Kathryn Morin if i put any thing with talc in it on my face I break out in terrible hives. If I put baby powder on my body it burns my skin and itches, be careful about this as face powder and even on babies.

Profile picture of Laura S

Laura S use corn starch, cheaper and easier and no talc

Profile picture of Dana Pledger

Dana Pledger I've used "Cornsilk" powder for years and never really considered making my own. It has become hard to find in my area. With this tip, I may now just make my own by adding powdered foundation to finely sifted cornstarch. Even my sensitive skin can handle this.

Profile picture of Charli Venable

Charli Venable I see lots of things on Pinterest that I need to try but never do it. This one, I'm doing right now. I went out and bought 200 pipe cleaners to start with. I'm using four of them on each hanger which makes 2-3 inches, tightly wound on each side. I don't know if the article said to or not but I'm folding over the end of each pipe cleaner about an eighth of an inch to help cover the sharp ends so they don't snag my slinky knits or delicate skin. Working great so far!

How to clean those smelly outdoor trash cans.

32 likes 5 comments 207 repins

Profile picture of Cindy Harrigan

Cindy Harrigan I did this but with odoban (which is WAY stronger than bleach) three times and it still smells like hell.

Profile picture of Charli Venable

Charli Venable We live a block away from the car wash so the hubs can just roll it over there to clean it out. For odors, we use a product clanked KOE Kennel Odor Eliminator. Our veterinarian carries it but you can find it online too. VERY concentrated so it doesn't take much. Totally gets rid of nasty smells. After cleaning, spray it down with diluted KOE and let it dry. Can rinse if you like but not necessary. Covers up all pet smells so trash is no problem.

Profile picture of Charli Venable

Charli Venable It's "called" KOE, not clanked. Jeez. Stupid autocorrect. Lol

Profile picture of donna brown

donna brown This post was a godsend for me. My husband was complaining for weeks about how much the compost bin was stinking. Began by pressure washing with only water. Then used your recipe except substituted washing soda for powdered laundry detergent (because I use liquid laundry detergent and had washing soda on hand). Let it sit for about 18 hours. Then dumped the cleaning solution in the toilet. Did a final water rinse on the bin. Doesn't smell anymore.
