Students studied African tribes haunting spirit sculptures. Many tribes would create these sculptures to hang in their homes to ward off evil spirits and deter thieves. Many were also placed on graves to protect their loved ones on their journey to the afterlife. Students created these masks in clay and then used a metallic pastel for clay to create the stunning patina!
