This 36 page packet is intended as a review exercise for kindergarteners to complete over the break, prior to entering first grade (or during the first few weeks of 1st grade). The majority of this packet is aligned with Common Core State Standards. There are also a few introductory skills for first grade. The entire packet is in black and white- perfect for reproducing. The kids will enjoy coloring the images as well!

LOVE, LOVE!! Tactile matching game. Balloons filled with rice, flour, sugar, small pearl tapioca, lentils, quinoa and pumpkin seeds. Each balloon has a match, and children have to find it.
Hot Rocks. Heated rocks colored with crayon or chalk.

Stretch the first balloon by inflating it halfway, for about 30 seconds, and deflating it. Place funnel in the balloon's neck and pour in 3/4 cup of lentils, pushing them in as you go. The balloon should be firm but squeezable.Snip off the balloon's thick rubber lip. Cut the neck off a second balloon and gently stretch the opening.Ease the second balloon over the filled balloon, tucking in the neck as you go.Cut the neck off the third balloon, stretch the opening, and ease it over the other two.

Instead of a pinata a candy punch wall. Could use a canning box or wine box that has the divisions already?

Doorway puppet theater- this one is so cool...can be used for regular puppets, shadow puppets or marionettes.
Christmas Tree Waffles... fun for Christmas morning....I am wondering if you could use a little pureed spinach or green's powder instead of food coloring.

A volcano in a mug. Neat idea to show kids how they work. Much more accurate than the old baking soda/vinegar idea.

"Name Skeletons" Look closely: students folded white paper in half, wrote their names in cursive, and cut out around their names - this formed the body. They added the head, arms, and legs then mounted their "name skeletons" on black construction paper! - What a fun idea!
