I can ignore many flaws in plot and character while immersing myself entirely in the intricacies of costumes and set design. These are not always the best movies I have seen. They are movies that I can go back to again and again for purely visual inspiration.
Nanny McPhee Returns. I know, flying pigs. But the cottage interiors, countryside, and crazy fair isle vests pulled me in and MADE me like it.

Nanny McPhee. Charmingly ridiculous, or just plain ridiculous, the colors and set detail are a trove of richness. Also Colin Firth.

Penelope. For fans of the Amelie aesthetic with an extra dash of quirk and whimsy.
Perfume - nowhere near as good as the book, but so darkly pretty.
Labyrinth - you have to love this movie. It's in the rules.

Zhamg Yimou's Hero - the use of color in this film deserves more than its own board
Imaginarium of Dr Parnassus - the only Terry Gilliam Movie I have ever loved

Legend - best use of glitter ever. Mia Sara's perfect face. Tom Cruise when he could still break you heart with his smile. Tim Curry as the devil.
Tim Burton's Alice in Wonderland - the effortless construction of sartorial perfection alone is worth the watch. Coleen Atwood you are my hero. Alice, could I please have hair just like yours all the time, with no effort on my part whatsoever?

What Dreams May Come - the palette alone: jade, cobalt, crimson, ivory, heliotrope...

The Secret of Moonacre - A fairytale of a movie, then again it could just be that I love the costumes; the great hair; and steampunk, emo lost boys in dark eyeliner.
