amelia c you should also try the Paranormalcy series. so awesome, especially if you love YA fiction. also: anything by Neal Shusterman. Bruiser was amazing. and his Everlost trilogy, too.

amelia c i haven't read this one, actually... but i've read a sort of similar pair of books called Shanghai Girls and Dreams of Joy, by Lisa See. Lisa See also wrote Snowflower and the Secret Fan. they're all historical fiction set in China. very well written.
