'Color walks', scouting outdoors with your children for naturally occurring objects in every color of the rainbow, are great family fun and promote a sense of curiosity and adventure outdoors. You can document color walk finds by writing them down or taking pictures, but why not borrow these ideas for collecting specimens?

Step away from the paint brushes! This month's Kids Art Explorers project says no paint brushes allowed.
Crayon leaf rubbings. love the idea of using white crayons and then painting watercolors over them!
Tea painting? Wish there was a source that told us what teas were used! This would be a cool art project for the kids!

Trace the hand in pencil. With a marker, draw a straight line until you get to the hand. Then make a curve from one line to the next, then continue the straight line.

Interesting texures you can make using watercolour paints. Alcohol - Drip some alcohol on the painted area and the paint will separate from the area. the dryer the paint is, I've found, the darker and crisper the edges of the seperated area of white will be. Salt - Sprinkling Salt on the paint created a sandy texture. the longer you leave the salt there as it dries, the more the paint will spread but this works best the more semi dry the area is. use Martha Stewart Butterfly punch, punch water-colored paper, hot glue on acrylic painted canvas. Hmm...kids' art class project? (replacing the hot glue with regular glue and the canvas with paper)...I need that punch though. Maybe use my Cricut instead?
