Houmas House Plantation is in the Greek Revival style. The big house you see here was begun in 1805 and completed in 1828. Behind this large home is the first house built by Alexander Latil in 1775. The tour guides are in antebellum dress and there are 38 acres of lush romantic gardens. And, there are more than one quite nice restaurants here. This plantation is often called "The Jewel of The River Road."
