Pinterest is an online pinboard.
Organize and share things you love.
Keep wrapping paper from unrolling in storage; hold in place using toilet paper roll "cuff."
Window seat: Cut the legs off of an old dresser and add cushions.
Two-hole punch cards you want to keep and stick in an old photo album. I see dozens of these at Goodwill. New ones, never used.
I might see if one of these radiator covers from Home Depot would fit inside vintage frame. Love them for earring display.
Cute. I have an old hook, too. And a mason jar. And flowers. I could do this.
I have a white buffet in my Family Room--even have similar artwork hanging above. Needed ideas for what to put on buffet itself.
Spice racks (IKEA) become children's bookshelves. My kids aren't little anymore, but I love the idea and want to share.
Beds and bunkbeds of all kinds in this article at habitatkid.typepad.com/blog.

More mix-n-match, with white and kind of a blue-gray. Or gray. Or slate. Or...I'm kind of color blind. (via bhg.com)

Love this green, too. Green cabinets, yellow or white walls...could be nice. (via bhg.com)

Going vertical with the kitchen soap. Unexpected. Out of the way.

I need help with picture groupings. This guide should help.

Different view of dark bottom/white top. (via elegant kitchen)
Cabinets painted black; beadboard backsplash, doors off (but I couldn't possibly make things look that neat and tidy inside). via hgtv.com
Love this smaller table in front of long, tall island (plus, I wonder if I could paint everything blue and buy some time on my ugly old cabinets). via housebeautiful.com

More painted cabinets. Darker color would hide lots of gunk and smears.
[I don't have granite countertops, but I hope someday I will...] Take a spray bottle, fill it about 1/8th full with rubbing alcohol, add a drop of Dawn dishwashing soap, a few drops of scented oil (optional, but makes it smell so good), fill the rest of the way with water, shake together, and you're good to go! It makes your granite (or any countertop) shine and feel so smooth.

Small kitchen island with seating in back, soapstone top.
House Beautiful Magazine -- here's a blue kitchen.
I've thought about painting the cabinets another color. This makes me think it might work.
I like this--light countertops, skinny island, light backsplash tiles.
Shelf with white pitchers and vases...so clean and simple.

Love this! And I could put one together in about 20 minutes with things I have on hand...but I'll wait until I get fabric I like.

A good, basic half wall to create visual division and alert to step-down.
This is up off the floor. It's solid, but lets in more light.

We only have one step down, but this is another approach of open shelves.
Too modern for our "look," I suppose, but it would let in light.
The stained top would minimize dirt/fingerprints. I like the functionality of storage + visual alert to the step down. A lot.

Moulding can dress up the half wall if we build something simple, out of drywall, with no shelving or storage.

A more substantial storage unit that creates division between rooms with a step-down. (Front view)

A half-wall idea. How dirty would the pillar get if people hold onto it to step down?

Something like this could work as half-wall divider between kitchen & family room with step-down.
Fetching pins…
annkroeker I wonder if we could add sliding doors to shut our dust & dirt? It becomes less about display and more about functionality/storage.
