Wet newspapers and put layers around the plants overlapping as you go; cover with mulch and forget about weeds. Weeds will get through some gardening plastic; they will not get through wet newspapers.

DeeAnn Carpenter My BF is doing the vegetable garden, while I create and tend to the perennial. It's a great balance. I need to get him onto Pinterest. Last year the bugs ate the vegies, and the hot sun no rain ruined our tomatoes. we hope to have a better season, better luck.
