A garage sale mixer, Goodwill tin platter, and dish passed down to my grandmother brings a little color and warmth to my white kitchen.

An old camel saddle found at a junk shop for $20 makes a great foot rest for the den.
With peeling paint and tons of 'laugh lines' she only wanted to be photographed at night. She's feeling much more confident since her nip & tuck.

When a swath had to be cut through our driveway to replace the 80 year old water lines, we took advantage by also burying our phone and electric cables. That really cleaned up the look of the house, but we weren't sure what to do about the driveway. Concrete was expensive, so we gathered local rocks and made path. Eventually it will lead to an arbor across from my kitchen window.
Vintage wall covering left from the original owner gets a new lease on life with junkshop prints and a goodwill mirror.

Try scheduling family pictures at your own house. It makes for more personal, and relaxed family photos. (Plus you get to show off your vintage green glass lamps that you scored from Goodwill for 5 bucks each.!)

After the worst drought in Texas history, we chose to do our family photos inside! Kind of cool to have them taken on our very own couch, in our very own house. :-)

When we moved into our house, our money was tied up in things other than decorating. A trip to the shed had to replace a trip to the home-goods store for this mantel update.
