Sue Bernier @Felicia: a toy is to play with, is not really appropriate in time out, and keeps the child worked out. This glitter bottle is pretty to look at, grabs a child's attention and holds it, is hypnotic, and the child understands that when the glitter settles, time out is over.
Sue Bernier 'worked out' was supposed to be worked up. Lol
Lise W. The bottle is cool, but I don't get time-outs. I am a mom of 3, (18, 14 and 2) and I never did the time-out thing. I do concequences. If we are out somewhere and they are acting badly, we leave. End of story. No sitting in a corner for 4 minutes and then you get to keep playing. I warn them once and then it's concequence time. Very few times did they repeat that behavior. Doesn't matter...friend's house, beach, zoo, playgroup...we leave. Usually the threat of leaving was enough to stop the actions and I've got amazing kids!!! Very well behaved. I go to a playgroup every week where I see the SAME kids in several "time-outs" each day, and it never works.
Felicia Smith Personally, I wouldn't use it for time out. I would use it for more as a quiet time tool. I have a 17 year old that I spanked up until the age of 12 yrs. ( call me a bad mom, in this day in age) but he respects me and he's a great young man.
Melissa Melton This is great for our bedtimes, when they're in bed, but having a hard time settling down for sleep. It works amazingly!
