Angelina Vanderveen Does this actually work???

Profile picture of Laura Versteeg

Laura Versteeg I haven't actually tried it but I bet it does, there's Bumble + Bumble Beach Hair Spray which is salty, and Lush has a Big Hair shampoo that's quite salty as well. If your hair is prone to curls I imagine salt pumping up the volume probably pumps that up! My hair is prone to curls pretty much just at my temples, it's quite attractive really.

Homemade lip gloss, great how-to... I want to adapt this recipe to use almond oil instead of petroleum jelly, and beeswax instead of paraffin.

Use once a week - supposedly doubles hair growth, but either way sounds like a great conditioner. Combine 1 tsp. honey, 2 tsp. olive oil and 1 -2 tsp. coconut oil w/one half mashed avocado. Massage into dry hair, wait 10 to 15 min, shampoo/condition as normal.

DIY: Warm Vanilla Brown Sugar & Coconut Body Scrub This brown sugar scrub smells absolutely amazing!  It's definitely the perfect treat for skin that's begging to be pampered.  Not only is it a wonderful exfoliant, but thanks to the coconut oil included in this recipe, it's very moisturizing to the skin as well.

Super Shine, DIY style: A whole lotta olive oil and a tbsp of honey. Mix it up and work it through your hair. Leave in for at least half an hour - overnight’s even better. Result: Gleaming, soft, smooth, totally non-staticky hair (another poster had a commenter who tried it, advised having a towel handy b/c olive oil started dripping down her back after a while, but said it worked! Shiny hair!)

Tera Kamminga Have you tried this?

Profile picture of Laura Versteeg

Laura Versteeg No but Maggie and I chat back and forth and she says it works great, she makes a new batch whenever she runs out. its not an antiperspirant, it's a deodorant, so if you perspire/glow more than all-out sweat it'd be the bestest I imagine... very moisturizing too.

Orange Honey Lip Balm 2 tsp. beeswax, grated or pellets 7 tsp. sweet almond oil 1 tsp. honey 5 drops orange essential oil

Homemade Hair Masque Print this article Hair masques can deep-condition hair to keep it healthy and shiny. You can get them at the salon or at your local beauty shop, but you can also make masques for your hair at home with items normally in your house. Different types of masques help with different types of problems. Masques for Dry, Damaged Hair A Coconut Cream masque is designed to moisturize and revive damaged hair. Let a chunk of coconut cream soften. Apply the masque to the hair and let it sit for 15 to 30 minutes. Wash out the masque with a gentle shampoo. Another masque for repairing damaged hair is called the Banana Smoothie. Mix one mashed banana, one egg, three tablespoons of honey, three tablespoons of milk and five tablespoons of olive oil. Apply to the hair. Let it sit for 15 to 30 minutes. Wash the hair with a gentle shampoo. Another banana masque calls for a mashed banana and a few drops of almond oil. Massage the mixture into your hair and rinse with soda water after 15 minutes. Follow up with shampoo and conditioner. A yogurt hair masque will also help with damaged hair. Beat an egg white until foamy, then add six tablespoons of natural yogurt. Mix well, then apply to hair. Allow the masque to sit for 15 to 30 minutes then wash with a mild shampoo. Dandruff Hair Masque A thyme hair rinse is perfect for getting rid of dandruff. Stir seven tablespoons of dried thyme into two cups of water. Boil the mixture, then leave it to cool. Lean over a bowl and pour half the liquid onto clean, damp hair. Scoop the solution out of the bowl to keep applying it until your hair is soaked. Do not rinse your hair. Style as desired. You can keep the leftover solution for another treatment as needed. Healthy Rinse Masques This homemade orange rinse will keep your hair shiny. Squeeze an orange and combine the juice with one tablespoon of honey and five to seven drops of sandalwood oil. Water down the mixture to a thin liquid. Rinse the hair with the mixture, then shampoo. Or, mix one tablespoon of herbs according to your hair type with enough boiling water to make a mixture to cover your hair. Let it stand for half an hour. Add a fourth of a cup apple cider vinegar and mix well. Pour mixture over hair repeatedly after shampooing. For general hair care use rosemary leaves, nettle, burdock root and elder flowers. For dry hair blend chamomile flowers, comfrey root, nettle and elder flowers. For oily hair combine lemon peel, peppermint and lemongrass. Warnings If you have allergies to any of the ingredients listed, do not make the mask containing them.
