Three straw activities....

Hickory Dickory Dock number recognition game. Draw clock, print out two sets of numbers. Glue 1st set to clock and second set to card and cut out. Point to numbers as you sing - 'the clock struck 4, one, two, three FOUR' and get them to put the numbers on in turn. Older children can find numbers themselves.

Super activity to help a young child with their grip on a pencil. Use tape to attach a pencil to a car then get child to drive the car around a roadmap while holding the pencil. Thanks for this one Linda. Brilliant activity :)

Storyboarding activity. Divide page into six, allow children to think of one or two characters for first box then ask for suggestions for the remaining five boxes. When finished read out the story and finally if you're still feeling creative draw a large final picture of the story and get all the kids to join in the painting! Older kids can do the drawings on larger sheets of paper and join in with making the stories up.

The Ancient Egyptians were the first to establish jewelry-making as a profession. Egypt was a class-based society and Egyptians were divided according to wealth and profession.

Many food historians believe that the peoples of ancient Egypt grew okra and used it in their cooking.

Ancient Egyptians Gods

One of the most intriguing stories laid beneath the barren desert of Egypt is the story of a boy king who ascended the throne at the age of 9 but ruled for only ten years before dying at 19 around 1324 B.C. The last heir of a powerful family that had ruled Egypt and its empire for centuries, he was laid to rest laden with gold and eventually forgotten. His tomb was discovered in 1922 by Howard Carter, an archeologist and Egyptologist who later died in mysterious fashion.

The Great Sphinx of Giza is a statue of a reclining or couchant sphinx (a mythical creature with a lion's body and a human head) that stands on the Giza Plateau on the west bank of the Nile in Giza, Egypt and is part of the Giza Necropolis. It is the largest monolith statue in the world, standing 241 ft long and 66.34 ft high. It is the oldest known monumental sculpture and is commonly believed to have been built by ancient Egyptians of the Old Kingdom in the reign of the Pharaoh Khafra.

This was great fun. Made a stone bug with stick legs and leaf wings. We took it out into the garden to put it in all the places where we see bugs. The kids took the pictures with some help. (EYFS - CD, KUW, CLL, PD)
