For the gardner who knew: pennies in the garden repel slugs and make hydrangeas blue. I am curious to find out if this is true.

Donna McLoughlin it is the copper that repels snails & slugs (not sure if there is much copper left in our pennies!) You can wrap trees & bush trunks with copper strips to repel. Changing Hydrangeas to blue is a little more science. You need to lower PH in soils..old wives tales said to put old nails now days some people say aluminum sulfate added will do the trick.. but I think I would prefer wives tale version, myself!
Great for a patio or deck old washtubs as lighting

TUTORIAL I made newspaper pots to sow them in and get them started. The pots are super easy to make, free, and earth friendly. And once your seedlings are old enough to move out on their own you just pop them into the ground -- paper pot and all.

This makes us happy on so many levels. so cool! Moss paint: You’ll need several handfuls of moss, 12oz of buttermilk or a can of beer and a teaspoon of sugar. Mix in a blender until liquid and paint on the wall. Spray daily as it grows, as moss thrives when moist.
