Deb McS fab :) ...

"I've begun worshiping the sun for a number of reasons. First of all, unlike some other gods I could mention, I can see the sun. It's there for me every day. And the things it brings me are quite apparent all the time: heat, light, food, a lovely day. There's no mystery, no one asks for money, I don't have to dress up, and there's no boring pageantry. And interestingly enough, I have found that the prayers I offer to the sun and the prayers I formerly offered to God are all answered at about ...

"When people tell me 'god has blessed with you with the gift of music' you're damn right I get offended. I did not practice hours a day for eighteen years to have my success attributed to a myth."

"I just find I don't believe in God. It just doesn't seem to be true, and no amount of thinking about it seems to make it true. It seems inherently untrue. And the thing that's hard about honing that position is, as a reporter, I've seen many times how a belief in God has transformed somebody's life. In all the ways I feel like you can witness God's work here on earth, I feel like I've seen that. I've met a lot of people -- it's been the thing that's changed them, that's sustained them in a w...

Sharon Muldrew ...in a way that I wish I could believe. But I simply find I don’t and I don’t feel like it’s something I have a choice about. I could pretend I believe a God exists, but the world seems explainable to me without it.

I listened to this a few times last year. The topics were interesting, the callers were clueless. Interesting and funny and I admire these guys for what they're doing, and in Texas, too.

Holly McClure I don't mind, I have no need to argue, I just like to point out the major flaws in their arguments which are usually so very illogical and naive.

Stefanie Ogden Just to be, I realize my post came across as argumentative when my intent was only to inform. I wasn't trying to cause an argument, only to point out that although I cannot speak for the other churches, I do know the LDS church is not only a huge contributor to charities, etc, but also uses tithe from the members to build the temples, and does not pay church leaders and teachers, they all do it on volunteer basis. I complete understand the point the picture is making, and I agree with the basis of the sentiment. I just wanted to show another point of view on at least one of the churches pictured. I seriously apologize if I offended, and although I appreciate the enthusiasm of support, it's counterproductive to call others ignorant if you are trying to educate non-judgementally and create a positive view of a certain people.

Stefanie Ogden And I apologize for the grammatical errors. I really am well educated. My autocorrect is not.

Emma Edwards Another difference between this and celebrities/sport is that they don't spout dogma and morals about giving to the poor. The stories of Jesus focused on the sin of greed and corruption and hatred, yet you get rich white Christians ignoring all of that and just focusing on old testament morality such as how it's wrong to be gay and how to control women's bodies. Religion is so full of hypocrisy, and it's main purpose seems to be a way of controlling humanity, men controlling women, the rich controlling the poor and the powerful controlling the weak. Which is probably why Conservative politicians the world over want to hang on to it. If you feel even a little bit of faith in a higher power then, by all means, I wouldn't want to take that away from you, whatever helps you make sense of this complex world and gets you through is not for me to argue with. But you can do it without subscribing to the corruption of organised religions.
