My absolute favorite comic. It says: "I'd like to exchange these cola can tokens for a book on hyperactivity."
I'm not against using drugs to correct attention/behavior problems, especially since they've found that ADHD is based in biology. However, the public sentiment towards giving medication to kids makes it tough for families who have a legitimate reason to use these tools to help their kids succeed.

I'm sure this is what our son's teachers feel like sometimes!

Fetching pins…
Alicia (through-my-is.blogspot.com) I completely agree. People don't take me seriously when I tell them of my sons' problems because the terms are so overused.
April Heivilin people are generally misinformed about the lack of side effects compared to other medications including over the counter cold medications! There are many many adults who have adhd and have ended up ruining their lives by self-medicating with alcohol and drugs because they have not had a diagnosis of adhd and the correct medications. Some people will always be ignorant, but changing our children's lives for the better speaks loudly. Keep advocating and using the tools that work- medication, educational interventions, behavior/social skills training, etc, etc- our kids will be excellent adults!
