The folks over at National Geographic, along with a team of scientists, engineers, and world-class balloon pilots, recreated the house from Disney/Pixars UP! The house flew at an altitude of 10,000 feet for 1 hour before it was brought down. This was all done for the new National Geographic Series How Hard Can it Be? that premieres this fall. madison_brinlee

Laurie Rubin, exemplifies the concept of memory in “Atawater Series.” The piece is comprised of 16 photographs, framed together, of open books arranged in a grid pattern. Each book reveals a different notation, souvenir, or relic. The literal openness of the books present a clear symbol for the vulnerability associated with nostalgia.
Valerie Buess was born in Switzerland and is now based in Germany. By twisting, turning, folding paper and sometimes adding some color to her work, she creates organic and often abstract shapes inspired by underwater sea creatures. These sea urchins, coral reefs, algae, and seagrass, all made from recycled books, hint at mysteries of the deep sea and constitute a sculptural world above the surface.
Alicia Martin's sculpture at Casa de America. 5,000 books pouring out of a window. Such liquidity.

Using trash bags, unused grocery bags and plastic sheets, Pakistani artist Khalil Chishtee creates life-sized figures wracked with emotion. He uses these materials as a metaphor for "recycling our identities" or braving the problems of life.
