Love this post about young children, gender roles, and chubby hands.

"I'm also a bit of a feminist. I speak my mind in the same way that Hermione does...  I feel like young girls are told they must be a princess, and be delicate and fragile, and that's bulls**t. I identify much more with the idea of being a warrior, being a fighter. If I was going to be a princess, I'd be a warrior princess, definitely."

We need to give our boys the space to create and be artful.

Keep them busy for hours! A block of ice with treasure frozen inside and a hammer. Great for those 100+ degree summers!

Melissa Wardy Hey! I know that little smiler! She is a special girl indeed.

Beauty doesn't come from cosmetic bottles or marketers. Beauty is passed down between the generations -- We define beauty. On our own terms.

Danielle Migler I had a realization like this over Christmas. I was sitting in the airport at 6 am half-listening to an anti-aging product infomercial. I realized how silly it all is, because my 90 year old grandmother is the most beautiful woman I know, and it has nothing to do with her skin.

Nothing is more beautiful than children playing.

Playing princess is just fine, but let your daughter take a break and try other things, too.
