Joanne Littler also make sure your climate is warm enough. we tried this last year and our summer is not hot enough for long enough. so sad.
Michelle Mather True, you need a warm climate. Sweet potatoe are not sprayed in Australia so any old one from the shop will grow. If you leave one in a dark spot it will sprout from many different spots. You can cut out each section with a sprout and plant them so you end up with lots of plants. But be warned once you plant them in your garden you will never get rid of them, they will pop up everywhere forever!!!
