Tearjerker. Great short video. Watch it. Miami Children's Hospital: VACC Camp 2012 by DanPerezFilms
Locks of Love Watch this awesome video by @Dan Perez, whose daughter chopped off 12 inches of her flowing hair - and learned a great lesson in philanthropy.

Truly the worst ad decision I've seen in quite some time. McDonald's was already on the outs for me, but now it is gone. Simply shameful. Who on earth approved this?!

"Girls tend to feel fine about themselves when they're 8, 9, 10, 11." Then what happens? The tyranny of the "ideal image of beauty" steps in, and girls and women are left feeling inadequate in the face of unreasonable and unrealistic images - often photo-shopped - of what it means to be beautiful. If there's a woman in your life you care about at all, re-pin this.
Camp Make a Difference 2012 - now accepting registrations! Four one-week sessions open to 6-9th graders interested in having fun while volunteering. Yay!

This brought tears to my eyes. Incredible insights into autism from a child with autism. "Dear Dad, I love when you read to me. And I love that you believe in me. I know I'm not the easiest kid in the world, however you are always there for me, holding my hand and picking me up. I love you."

How much do I love this?! Professional photographers taking pics at the animal shelter to give them a better chance of being adopted.
Saw a pin about Lily the blind great dane and her guide dog Maddison. I googled it, and the story gets better. They were featured in a newspaper because they were up for adoption, and over 2000 dog owners offered to adopt them. They are with a super nice family that is taking them vacationing in France.
We can all learn a lot from Jasmine the Greyhound. Found neglected and abandoned and taken to a wildlife sanctuary, she quickly took the role of greeter and foster mom for puppies, fox cubs, bunnies, owls and deer. Every single one of us has something to offer.
Ask your local shelter to participate. June 11, 2012 no kill day www.justoneday.ws/
And a thousand words are worth a picture. I practically lived in the library as a child. It's unfathomable to me what it would be like to grow up without books and a safe place to read them. Please support your local library.

"The Baltimore Love Project expresses love by connecting people and communities across Baltimore City through love themed murals. A few years ago, local artist Michael Owen, developed a design of four hands spelling out the word love. Now this image will be painted on 20 walls, spread evenly across the communities of Baltimore City. The murals will be identical in regards to content, only ranging in size." Creative use of art to build community - yes!
"PFLAG promotes the health and well-being of lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender persons, their families and friends through: support, to cope with an adverse society; education, to enlighten an ill-informed public; and advocacy, to end discrimination and to secure equal civil rights." I long for a day in this country - and in the world - when sexual orientation is no longer an issue.
