The Monsieur's Guide to Style [Winter - Spring 2011/12]

Articles that the Midwest Mssr. owns, endorses and adores for the Winter-Spring season.

The Mssr. owns an asymmetric brown jacket and is absolutely in love with it. This is a somewhat understated black leather edition, but very striking. Maybe it'll convince him to buy that motorcycle he's always wanted this Spring...

Likely one of the final cardigans we're likely to post, but the sleeve contrast just does it for us.

We're suckers for lapels.

Interesting inset design. Don't know that we would consider it 'polo,' but they do, so we will.

First combined contrast broguish shoe that we've liked.

We do appreciate the brand of 'dandy' that Etro is attempting this Spring.

Refreshing to see a contrast cardigan without branding stapled all over it. Nice pocket outlining, quality piece from Rag and Bone.

Pinned some black boots similar to this, but the color is fantastic on these Belstaff Barkmasters.

Very nice contrast in the collar and with the buttons; too bad it's out of stock at the site to which this links; will have to find it somewhere!

Very keen texture on these drivers.

For later in the season, but it's never too late to grab it before everyone else catches on!

The windbreaker, now in Technicolor.

Not normally into snapped jackets (at least this one appears to be snapped), but it's got a very simple appeal without trying to upstage its vintage influence.

Japanese spin under an American classic brand? We'll always welcome new perspectives.

Move over, Cole Haan?

What can we say? Oh, other than, we adore the Kitsune Maison label.

Scrolling through Park & Bond's new arrivals today, we weren't very impressed until we found this Viktor & Rolf jersey blazer.

A good deal of what we pick has to do with color, and with that as our guideline these espadrilles can't lose!

Every now and again, our affectation for sunglasses must show through. We've always had our eye on these - need to find them somewhere!

Seems like we needed to just hold our breath until Spring to see all of these highly-wearable neutral color jackets!

Interesting drop-neck sweater; wish it was in more than just grey or black, though!

We think this is a new color for Concitor. In the spirit of an adventurous 2012, head over and have a look at some of their bold flat-front pants colors! http://www.concitorclothing.com

What we said about patterns may be coming true...This Spring looks to be one ripe for experimentation!

Etro is a bold label that the Mssr has favored for ties, but the lining on this one is something else!

Much like the McQueen posts made earlier, his sense of avant-garde cut for gentlemen will be missed. This piece has an absolutely striking lineage.

We have seen a number of new contrast shoes. Most have white soles, which may increase the complexity of care, so the darker the contrast (for at least messy early season) the better.

Very 'academic.' The polished buttons are a very nice touch.

We have a feeling that this will be quite the experimental Spring.

Two belts in one day! The Mssr. is feeling exceptionally fortunate ahead of the weekend.

Good, unique belts are hard to come by these days. We know they're out there; it's just a matter of finding them!

The vibrant color and the slimmer cut make this almost an essential for early Spring.

Finally, a tan jacket that we would wear.

2 repins

This jacket absolutely refuses to believe that the Punxsutawney Phil predicted a longer Winter. In fact, it's already evoking an air of Spring just looking at it.

Must-have travel accessory for as much of a chronophile as the Mssr.

Of course no week over at the Mssr.'s Pinterest would be complete without John Varvatos shoes.

Yamamoto does it again. His mashup style is very desirable.

Would prefer knee-high Wellies, but these are pretty keen.

Attractive blazer from Zara. The Mssr. has been very happy with purchases from Inditex, and the photo demonstrates a great way to wear it.

3 repins

The Mssr. thinks the double-buckle boot design is very keen.

The asymmetric look is a big part of what's happening in fashion. The Mssr. has a number of these pieces, and this is a cardigan that should be among them!

Interesting angled pocket work.

Cole Haan continues to stun; these boots are surely showstoppers.

The Mssr. was a huge fan of these during the Spring/Summer/early Fall of 2011; buy all of the hues to enjoy your time in the shade.

Too many grey sweaters is a problem. This Banana Republic blue choice along with cut and sizing are extremely useful as a top-layer or just a light over-layer come the early chills of Spring.

The Mssr. is a huge fan of Breitling vintage watches.

Japanese denim; enough said.

After being on the fence about this the better part of the morning, it is now a 'must' for Spring.

Matt Martinez yep I'm feeling this... nice find

Profile picture of Midwest Monsieur

Midwest Monsieur Thank you! I was very undecided about it.

This designer has really impressed. Yohji Yamamoto is soon to be part of The Monsieur's collection.

Available in black as well, but this tone ('Cognac') is very nice.

From the golf course to the street, the Monsieur is set to bring this brand, Loudmouth (the same folk who made the Danish curling pants), to the sidewalks of of the Midwest any given weekend.
