As a teenager in the 1990's I grew up with the Simpon's, during a time when the show had some very important things to say about American society. The show really did capture the mood of American society in the 1990's through extreme irony - a language that would come to define how my fellow Gen whatever we are came to view the world. At 31 I cannot imagine a world without the Simpsons, even if I don't indulge in it as much as I once did.

This book had been on my "to read" list for some time but after Jack's passing last year it shot right to the top. While I don't agree with everything in the book there is far more that I do agree with. Bottom line, Jack Layton is an inspiration for anyone that defines their politics along the Canadian left.

Finishing this series up and I have to admit it was a lot of fun.

Sequel to The Hunger Games. Just as good. Nothing ground breaking here just a fun read.

Looks at how social media and technology has allowed for individuals to leverage the influence of the their networks into much larger forces with immense potential.

Every discipline has a series of "foundational books." Chris Brogan and Julien Smith's "Trust Agents" is one of those for the social media industry.

Fantastic book that attempts to provide a practical guide to implementing many of the social media's fuzzy concepts like transparency and influence.

Great book on social media marketing. I won my copy at Jason Fall's book launch at Blogworld Los Angeles in November 2011. Falls was good enough to sign it for me. Highly recommend this book to any one working in social media or wanting to know what the hell it is all about.

Loved this book, a definite classic.

By far the longest political memoir I've ever read and over 1000 pages. At times self-important and revisionist, Mulroney's salty charm is on full display. A long read but an entertaining one.

Memoirs from the man that was Prime Minister of Canada from 1993 to 2003.

Worst political memoir ..... EVER! I say this not because I am opposed to his politics, I am. I say this because there was no attempt to provide any personal insights into the man that was President during much of one of the most tumultuous decades in modern American history. The man appears as vapid and uninteresting in his memoirs as he appeared during his time as President.

Another Thompson classic. Unlike Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas, which is a look at the soul of American society and a love letter to the lost idealism and spirit of the '60s, this is a much more focused look at the political process and the 1972 race for president. To get through Fear and Loathing on the Campaign Trail '72 and understand it you have to know something about that race and it's candidates, George McGovern and Richard Nixon. For political geeks and Thompson fans it's a great and entertaining read.

I love Hunter S. Thompson and this is a classic. "San Francisco in the middle '60's was a very special time and place to be a part of. But no explanation, no mix of words of memories can touch that sense of knowing that you were there and alive in that corner of time in the world .. whatever it meant. There was madness in any direction at any hour, you could strike sparks anywhere. There was a fantastic, universal sense that whatever we were doing was right, that we were winning. And that I think was the handle. That sense of inevitable victory over the old and evil. Not in any mean or military sense ... we didn't need that. Our energy would simply prevail. We had all the momentum. We were riding the crest of a high and beautiful wave. So now, less than five years later, you can go up on a steep hill in Las Vegas and look west and with the right kind of eyes you can almost see the high water mark. That place where the wave finally broke and rolled back."

One of the few books dealing with the process of running a leadership campaign in Canada. A guidebook for political operatives and the definitive account of how Stephan Harper became the leader of the Canadian Alliance, then leader of the united Conservative Party of Canada and leader of Canada's Official Opposition. A must read for politicos regardless of your politics.

A definitive look of the political history of Bill Clinton's time as President. An unflinching look at the stumbles and successes of the man in the Oval Office, his political machine, and the failures and successes of his Administration.

The official memoirs of Bill Clinton, a political role model of mine.

Fascinating look at Obama's first year as President. Puts in historical context the enormity of the global economic meltdown and his stimulus program. For people who claim the Obama Administration did nothing to fix the economy, shut up and read this book.

A look at the increasing power of the Prime Minister's Office under Harper and the extent to which the Prime Minister has expanded his authority over all aspects of the federal government.

Much better then the second installment. Things really pick up in this installment and the world gets much, much more interesting.

Great read. The twists and turns are nuts. It's a book about war and battles which I didn't like as much but there is so much character development built in that it more than makes up for it.

Mike Girard I'm looking forward to that one. Still have to read A Feast For Crows though.

Watched the HBO show and had to read the book. Love this series. The characters and the world is rich and the story lines weave in and out masterfully.

I was intrigued by the documentary angle but I didn't find the book very compelling. There were no characters to care about. The story followed the accounts of various survivors after the cataclysmic "Zombie War" telling their stories of fear, war, death, and survival. Not one of my favorites but I didn't dislike it enough to put it down. Finished: January 15, 2012

An insightful look at Canada's first modern election - the introduction of the politics of fear, the first Liberal collapse and a party looking to renew itself afterwards.

Its a fun read and a page turner. Reading now.

A timely and well deserved slap in the face for Canadian Liberals. Reading now.

Mike Girard Just finished. Lessons to be learned in here to be certain. The book ends where general analysis of Liberal loss was a few months ago when pundits argued the Liberal Party of Canada was just one more example of the large, centrist political parties falling by the wayside as voters begin to move towards party's the sit on more defined territory to the right and left of the political spectrum. Updated to reflect Jack Layton's passing but not an analysis of the aftermath and turbulence the NDP has experienced in Quebec since or rising Liberal poll numbers nationally. A great read that I highly, highly recommend.
