This works beautifully! Fill up 1/3 of a shallow but wide bin with round river stones and insert tools. Laura Henry Vulpia myuros--rattail fescue (annual) Festuca rubra, etc. Soleirolia solerolii--baby tears Mentha requienii--Corsican jewel mint (looks like baby tears, smells like peppermint) Taller mints, lemon balm Polygonum capitatum--rose carpet knotweed Greek oregano Campanula poscharskiana, C. muralis Trifolium repens, T. hirtum (this one is annual)--clover California poppies Lettuce, endive, kale, etc. Ceratostigma plumbaginoides Plantago lanceolata--buckhorn plantain Anagallis arvensis--scarlet pimpernel Veronica persica--birdseye speedwell Gazania, Arctotis, other African daisies Some of these like water, others are reasonably drought-tolerant; but, hey, concrete is great mulch.
i want to buy a couple of these wooly pockets but i feel guilty about it like if i was hard core i would go buy some wool sweaters at goodwill and sew up my own.... but shit, man, i only have time to be hard core about so many things...
