neat idea! Give each student their "personal" set of whiteboards in page protectors. When you are ready to use them in class, they can just flip to that part of their notebook!

Apples and Handwashing: "We put a clean apple slice in one jar. We passed another apple slice around the class as we came in from recess with dirty hands. We have been observing the two jars in the science center. This is the difference after 8 days - gross! (This picture doesn't really show the mold.)" - A great way to teach about germs.

In just 30 years, Finland transformed its school system from one that was mediocre and inequitable, to one that consistently produces some of the world's best students, while virtually eliminating an achievement gap. And they do it without standardized testing. Dan Rather Reports airs Tuesdays at 8pm ET on HDNet.

Homemade Toss ‘n Talk Ball: Adapt to your subject with test review questions. Stand in circle. Toss across. Person grabs. Tosser calls left or right hand after caught. Catcher looks at question under called hand. Points if answered correctly. Then tosses across. Could do teams with colored post-it notes on shoulders.

I LOVE this idea! Put a survey up in your room and give them until the bell rings to answer. Graph all your classes! IDEAS: Which piece of safety equipment is the most important? When will the first measurable snowfall occur? How many snow days will we have this year?

COULD BE ADAPTED TO EARTH SCIENCE! TYPES OF VOLCANOES? LANDFORMS? I love the outside of the box thinker this teacher is. Remember those old slide projectors that were used to put art history students to sleep? You'd be amazed at how easy it is to get your hands on them nowadays.
