I think you accusing her of living off her parents, accepting handouts, not working at all, being entitled, and not contributing to society was a LOT more rude than anything she has said on this board.
Ruth N Oh please...give me a break Bri. I wouldn't point my finger girlfriend I would look her right in the face and tell her she is wrong about a couple of things. Here is the deal if you want to talk smak about people who are older, possibly dumber than an 18-25 yr old look out. Young people may know things, but they do not know everything. So cudos to you sticking up for your generation, however I have the right, today, to say and express how I feel. One day maybe sooner than later we may not have the right and freedom to say how we feel. So go ahead, say we don't understand you ...every generation says that. I did too, however I respected those who were mush older than me. Respect in society today has failed. Get mad, blow a fuse whatever...Youth thats what you do. Live and learn.
Becca Briggs I do respect people, no matter what their age...I just don't do it simply because they're older. The idea that you should just listen and respect someone because they're older is ridiculous. There are many older people that no one in their right mind should listen to, but apparently I'm supposed to? And simply put, I don't respect people who aren't respectful. It's a 2-way street, and all I'm saying are these older generation ladies should be a little more respectful of other people, and less close minded and ignorant. I'm not saying anything about them not understanding me, I don't care if they understand why we do things we do or not, but you don't have to put us down for doing it. It doesn't mean we're ruining our bodies, they have no place to accuse her of that-if she is happy with it she isn't ruining her body- or that we're worse people for modifying our bodies the way we want. Not saying they have to approve, but not to be so rude and give false information.
Amanda Johnson Respect in today's society HAS failed. And our jumping on the bandwagon of disrespecting others certainly proves that. Perhaps we MAY lose the right to say and express exactly how we feel, so in the meantime, let's be rude and disparaging to others while we still can...? I see absolutely no wisdom in that. I see wisdom in those women who consider others' positions as much as their own, who weigh their words carefully, who hold their tongues when the time warrants it, and when the time calls for her to speak, she speaks truth with kindness and gentleness. An old and true adage we should all remember: When you fight fire with fire, everybody gets burned.
Ruth N I agree with both Amanda and Becca in many ways.. Becca I came down harsh- totally- I can see your view- I do not agree with many adults of today. I really can see both sides- may not seem it because I am only speaking in words not by knowing someone for years. So yes not cool to put down others for anything that they do not redeem as normal to them- however on the other side not cool to chastise someone for conservatism, being old or whatever. Our world has changed sooo much- some of us balk at change- some don't- some go with the flow- so I don't know Becca- just be an awesome human- because our world today- our youth of today has alot of stuff to contend with over the years- Alot. So peace out and have an awesome life. Only you can make it awesome
