Everything I pin is with an eye towards my industry of commercial production. As an art director, I am always looking to find imagery that will help me to tell a story or convey an idea quickly by defining a mood, an emotion or a feeling. This is represented in many varied visual notes. These notes are displayed in a myriad of ways, from the subtitles of texture, tone and temperature of a wall surface or fabric, to the style and details of wardrobe. From the minutia of a few petals at the base of a flower arraignment, or the slight shifting of a stack of books, to the larger more obvious details of era, environment, character and purpose. It’s a never-ending journey of discovery and how amazing is it that we have such an incredible visual resource at our fingertips? Literally! To save time, I generally do not describe my pins. Instead, I have devised a rating system for each pin from 1 to 10 that allows me to quickly move on to the next image. Even if a pin gets a 1, it’s still something I think will assist me at some time to convey something to someone. A 10 would be the perfect example of an idea or concept. (No 10’s yet.) The exception to that rule is the “Icon” board, on which I do post. There are also a few of my older pins that I have not rated yet, which I’ll get around to eventually.
