Jewellery from the Fishpool hoard from mid-15th century ADin found Nottinghamshire, England. The hoard was found in 1966 and comprises comprises 1,237 coins, four rings, four pieces of jewellery and two lengths of chain. One ring, of plain gold, carries an English inscription inside the hoop which means 'Lift up your whole heart'.

Patrick Baty writes: the ring symbolises the struggle for the 'Risen Poland' and refers to the Third Partition of 1795 when Poland was effectively erased and split amongst the occupying powers of Russia, Prussia and Austria. It belonged to my great-great grandfather Aleksander Prawdzic-Karlowski. He was a Polish patriot who fought with the Hungarian revolutionary Lajos Kossuth and the Polish General Bem in Hungary in 1848 and 1849.
