@Melissa Nelson website has a "Recycle Your Wedding" section where brides can sell decorations from their wedding. Worth a look before you buy 80 square vases.

LP Wood What is that - a bunch of baby's breath?
Shannon Wasden yes it is.
Megan Swinford baby's breath used to be considered lame and now it's coming baaaack... I'm still not fully convinced, but I'm warming up to it.
Megan Swinford by lame I mean filler.
Shannon Wasden well I think at the time I was frustrated with the issues with my bouquet, and this is a very simple and cheap solution. It would probably work better for bridesmaids' bouquets
haha...totes

Megan Swinford I hope you do this or something like it! Btw... should we delete this board now?
Shannon Wasden nah, we should leave it, there's still some good stuff on here
Megan Swinford okie dokie!
I feel like this would only work had our dating process been longer... I still like the window idea better, but this is cool too
ok, so I'm not wearing boots (although maybe I should at the temple...but I have a gray coat, maybe I should get a navy scarf?
Megan Swinford Yes, I like it!! You have a gray coat? I did not know theese. And yes, get a navy scarf. Preferably a voluminous one, possibly made out of the bottom of a sweater, like this: http://nicole-blissful... (I also have that pinned in my sewing inspiration folder near the beginning, if the link doesn't work).
Megan Swinford And depending on the day, you might want to bring boots to the temple just in case! And it would be cute for a picture like this anyway. Although if you're doing bridals you could just use the boots for that picture... are you doing bridals?
Shannon Wasden Yeah I am getting bridals (free with engagements+wedding coverage, woohoo!), but they might end up being couples shots so y'all don't have to stand around waiting in the snow on Dec 17. But if it's snowing when we do them, I'm bringing boots. To the temple too. The heels I'm wearing at the reception, etc are a low heel, so the dress probably won't drag in boots. And I'm nervous about getting a sweatery scarf because I don't want blue fuzzies to get all over my dress :(
Megan Swinford ooh good point (re: fuzzies)
Megan Swinford cotton jersey it is, then!
like this, but different: Easy DIY dry-erase board. All you need is a picture frame with glass, some pretty scrapbook paper, and erasable markers.

Shannon Wasden did you mean to put this on the Nups? And I'm concerned that a story board won't really have lots on it because our dating was really quick...
Megan Swinford yes I did mean to. I'm not concerned. I just got a message from a neighbor saying she knew of a 4 pane window her dad might have and that would probably be perfect.
Shannon Wasden oh yes, perfect perfect perfect! I hope she let's make use of it and I'm already coming up with ideas of what to put on there. postcard from turkey, pictures from field school and when I went to CT, emails (one in particular where I made fun of him for asking for a romantic love note)...I don't know. How do those sound?
Megan Swinford They sound great!! I knew you'd be able to fill up a window.
@Shannon Wood do you want something like this for your tablescapes?: great website for cheap craft materials $11 for 30 yards of jute. Tablescape is a funny word.
Shannon Wasden I already have navy blue runners for a table scape (haha) so I hope it'll look ok. I would've been fine with like muslin or just whatever blank table cloths, but sam's mom wanted it to look more formal. It's ok. I can't remember the name of the kind of cloth we got, but it's like see-through
Megan Swinford oh ok!
she's got a bath loofa in her hair. bump-it to the max. @Shannon Wood this is what you can do for your wedding hair!! ;)
3 comments 1 repin
Shannon Wasden a loofah! ??? well, knowing my hair, it would definitely show, and probably fall out at some point. People would be like "uhh...where did that come from?"
Megan Swinford lol I know, seriously... (and you know I was kidding, right?)
Shannon Wasden haha yes. There's no way I would let you put that in my hair...unless maybe it was halloween
Here you go Mom! Mother of the bride dress. @LP Wood

LP Wood I am affronted. Or taken aback. One of the two.
Shannon Wasden Wait, why? You can wear a cardigan over it...
have you thought about an easel for something like the love story display I pinned before? I don't have an easel this cool, though... Actually I don't have any easel, although I was thinking of purchasing one.

Cute Idea: Love Story Board (what do you think? something like it?)
4 comments 1 repin
Shannon Wasden wait wait...I really like this, if it is what I think it is. is it like the story of the two people until the part where they got married or something?
Megan Swinford yeah, but obviously even if it isn't you can do it how ever you want. do you want to try and do something like this? cause if you do maybe we can borrow a window from someone, unless you want to buy one.
Shannon Wasden can you help me orchestrate this? do you know someone with a window we can borrow? Or some similar thing?
Megan Swinford I'll ask around.

Megan Swinford are you wanting something like this?
Shannon, this reminded me of that thing you were going to do... are you still planning on doing that?
3 comments 3 repins
Shannon Wasden Yep, I got the thing to do it on and I know what's going on it, I just have to do it. (I'm remaining vague jic sam finds his way onto pinterest haha)
Megan Swinford yeah, same reason I was trying to be semi-vague... lol
Megan Swinford can you email me what you're doing, please? (if I may ask)
photo idea: daughter, mother, grandmother

Shannon Wasden cute :) mom doesn't wear a wedding ring though
LP Wood It doesn't fit me. But what's interesting is that it was my grandmother's!
Megan Swinford Indeed! I still want to see that ring, btw. Do you at least have a close-up picture of it somewhere?
Shannon Wasden Mom you should just get it resized! Remember how it only cost Adrien like $35?
Megan Swinford I concur.
Strings of mini lights attached to a rod behind sheer fabric. Not that you have to do this, it's just pretty and I wanted to pin it somewhere.

Manti, Utah Temple print of a watercolor (if you even like it, you could possibly have this in a large mat and people could sign that. I'm sure you've seen something like that before) - watercolor by ashmae on etsy (birdsofashmae.blo...)

Shannon Wasden oooh very pretty yes :)
Gretchen Amy Logan or Manti ?
Shannon Wasden Manti
Gretchen Amy I was married there :) You think I would be able to tell the difference !! ;)
look, she's wearing a regular coat and scarf and she's cute! also, I know you're doing soda and cookies now, but I think you could still do a cocoa bar, just have the instant stuff and then have bowls of marshmallows and whipped cream and peppermint sticks and cinnamon sticks or something... No se.

Shannon Wasden Yeah, I'm thinking I'll do a regular coat, and I was going to do my blue one when the color was cobalt, but now I may just use this as an excuse to buy another coat hehe...
This totally doesn't go with your theme but I thought it was funny.

Unique way to say thank-you to your wedding guests.
It doesn't have to be broken up like this, but what if you had a blank (or not, it's up to you) map of the world and had guests put places they're from, or been, or maybe where they went on their honeymoon or somewhere they hope you go, and then just sign their name?
Megan Swinford from etsy.com
Calendar Guest Book - wouldn't last forever, but would be fun for the first year to see small bits of advice or well wishes on guests' birthdays.

another guest book alternative. - you could do shapes other than hearts, or, if you think guests don't mind taking the time, you could have paper, scissors, instructions and pens at each table and have each person cut out a shape of their own and write on it then. Then someone like me and/or mom could glue them in a formation for you after the wedding.

Megan Swinford from etsy.com
LP Wood No glue, Mrs Bennet, I beg you!
guest book painting - could be messy, but could also be fun. May something similar but less messy could be a quick drawing from guests. You could just have a big paper or canvas and have people draw something small (stick figures would have to be fine, obv.) or add to one big picture...
"Guest Book" of thumbprints - there was also a tree version where everyone signed their name by their thumbprint

guest book idea - just need a polaroid camera...
5 comments 5 repins
Shannon Wasden I have a polaroid camera, I just need the film
Megan Swinford so is this the one you want to do? also, are you going to register anywhere?
Shannon Wasden we did register, but we only have a few things so we are combining all the stores into one online registry (at least that's what I'm attempting to do). And I like this idea a lot but I don't know if I want to because it would be really expensive because polaroid film is expensive and I'd need to be sure there was enough for everyone to take a picture
Megan Swinford very true... well have you looked at all the other ideas already? Sorry... I wish I could come up with a better solution for you!
Shannon Wasden I have. I think I may just end up going with an actual book, because that way people can sort of do whatever they want, and I can shelve it or easily store it after the wedding when I don't care as much about it.
What do you think of this in leu of a guest book? (I think signing in the margins of a dictionary in addition to circling words would be kinda cool. Plus I don't think it's as evil as signing in the margins of other books)
4 comments 1 repin
Shannon Wasden hm...I actually like that. But what if someone wrote over or already circled a word you were going to use?
Megan Swinford Ummm... maybe you could have different colored pens? I'd say in your colors but lavender probably isn't an easy color to read. And it's not like any person would take an entire margin, right? Right...?
Shannon Wasden hm... I don't know. I'm still uncertain. I'm very open to other ideas for a guest book. I don't really want to do the normal/boring book. Enlighten me!
LP Wood You could have a thesaurus next to it so people could look up synonyms if the word they wanted to circle was already taken.
what do you think of this idea? - glowing tables.... better with solar-powered or battery powered lamps

Have you thought about doing something like this? Devon and Abbie kinda did this, but to a slightly smaller scale, I think.

Shannon Wasden oh maybe, I was actually thinking about doing this when I saw it D&A's wedding. I'm still not sure though
Shannon - you should have all your bridesmaids wear these fashionable leggings!

Shannon Wasden oh for sure, and we can plug them in so it's like getting a massage all day!
LP Wood It would sure help when you're standing in line for hours on end.
Megan Swinford lol is that your pressure cuff thing that keeps you from getting blood clots? very nice.
wrong colors but pretty

Megan Swinford yes, why?
Shannon Wasden what's her name/website/info?
Megan Swinford oooo I forgot to ask... is this how your dress is going to look when it's made? or is it going to be different?
Megan Swinford I mean did you find out about the tiers and stuff?
Shannon Wasden Yes, it's going to have tiers, so it'll look pretty much the same, only the top/bodice won't be tiered, it will just be one solid piece.
Is something like this okay?
