My small K-5 library in Earlysville, VA is going through a renovation to enable it to be more flexible, welcoming and useful. Oldest pictures (the before pictures) are at the bottom.
Spring 2011 - giant clipboard in entryway. I hired VCU art student Shadiah Lahham to make this.

Mary Elizabeth Melissa, it looks wonderful! You have done so much and it is AMAZING!!!
Melissa Techman Thanks, Mary! Still working on it. Amazing what $900 and some wonderful volunteers can do. Did you see the globe lamp on my circ desk? I fished a broken globe out of teacher trash and turned it into 2 lamps. Kids love it.
Mary Elizabeth LOVE IT! Yes isn't it amazing when you don't have to order from school catalogs. You should really write an article for a school magazine or blog about your makeover.
Spring 2011 - view from my office, now that bulletin boards have been replaced by windows. Office chair from IKEA. I can see trees!

Before pictures - view from hall through library to the door to the playground. (need to ask if I can swap this exterior door with a little-used one in the hall that's all glass. Note no giant clipboard yet. Window on the right (into teacher workroom) is now uncovered. Transparency in education ; ) Fall 2010
