Peppermint scented geranium does well in a container because unlike other scented geraniums that need full sun, this one needs shade. Morning sun and afternoon shade will work. Tender perennial for the northern US.

The container in the foreground is pineapple sage coming in for the winter. Sometimes it succeeds, sometimes it doesn't. The other container is silver mint. Even if it dies back, we can usually get the mint to grow back.
This is silver mint. This is the only way to have mint in an herb garden in a container.
