It's not a good sign when you wish all of the characters would commit suicide; Eugenides seems to hate all of these characters and cruelly mock them throughout the "marriage plot" of the book; read Virgin Suicides instead
incredibly readable but not as good as the first--starting to break its own rules

Read in just a few hours so clearly likable; a few minor errors annoyed me as did the "wolves"; but totally going to go buy the other two now

tiresome speeches by characters and the narrator's cataloging of miscellaneous nonsense overshadow the only interesting thing anyone remembers from the book--not Wilde at his best

Well, s#*!, I didn't know it was a trilogy. Interesting vamp. mythology but suffers from over-exposition with no pay-off. Now to decide if it was interesting enough to read The Fall & The Night Eternal . . . .
masterful spy novel--skip the 2011 "adaptation" that all but ruins the book
took me forever to finish . . . should have left it unfinished--slogging narrative, unsatisfying non-ending
the book is stalled and trapped by a trite premise (the vintage/antique photos) instead of inspired and enlivened by them; ends open-endedly in an obvious attempt at sequels instead of completing the story; one hopes Tim Burton has stopped his circling and allows the the film adaptation to die, ensuring that children will read better books
finished in 2012 (mostly read in 2011 . . .); best story being title story; better to read his novels, though
