I write. I walk my dog. I wear cowboy boots. I haven't managed to do all three at the same time, yet. But it could happen.
Pinterest is an online pinboard.
Organize and share things you love.
Three of my favorite things: Woods, an about-to-be amazing kiss, and lots of plaid!

Gorgeous, gothic murder-mystery set in an old mansion. Not so scary that kids will have nightmares over it, but just creepy enough to keep you (or.. uh..them ;) up late guessing the outcome. Great twists, strange riddles, fun discoveries, a wonderful, smart little hero named Clara, and a lot of magic. The writing is so lovely. "I am going to give you a chance to prove yourself, heart." she declared, tapping herself on the chest. "you survived an outing among the living, and you'll do it again."

This book is responsible for my crush on Nick Hornby. After this, I backtracked and started reading his other books. This one is my favorite so far; a bittersweet love story about music and second chances. So, so funny, too. It's easy to picture Zooey Deschanel in a film adaptation.

Stephanie Proffitt My husband liked this book :)
Love this site. "Five Words Tell a Story is the love child of two girls, with too many ideas and no spare time. The premise is simple. Bring a situation or message to life in merely five words, daily."

The whole series was great, but Wicked Lovely is still my favorite. Melissa Marr's writing is intoxicating. I loved Seth and Aislinn. And Bananach (from Fragile Eternity) is one of the best villains I've read; from the first description, she's absolutely chilling.

Hannah Stewart Jones I agree- this is still my favorite of the series as well :)
I love superhero movies. I love Chris Hemsworth even more than I love superhero movies. But the hammer. I don't know if I can get past the hammer.

"Here is what I remember most: her embrace. Her belief in me. And the joy she gave. That was her gift. When I think of her now, I think of that time when a dream came true. And my only talent was not to close my eyes." - from "My Week With Marilyn"

My favorite cookbook ever. I don't enjoy cooking, never have, but this book is slowly changing my mind. I've tried a bunch of recipes - all delicious and not difficult. So many distinct flavors and great tips. Lucinda's favorite part of cooking is the community part; cooking with her sons and then hanging out with her family. I think that's what I love about it, realizing food is best when it connects to a sweet memory. Gorgeous book. Beautiful photography. Would be a great housewarming gift!

I've recommended this book to a bunch of people and they've either really loved it ... or really hated it. It seems to draw out a passionate response :) I'm in the love camp though. It reminds me slightly of the Wizard of Oz (book, not movie). Lovely hero named September. Wicked little girl villain called The Marquees (her hats are glorious!). The writing is delicious. The whole book was like a wild dream that I didn't want to wake up from.

Amen, Josef! "Josef was determined to make his own statement so we went to the car and with pencil and his sketch pad, he made up his own little sign that reads 'GOD HATES NO ONE,' " his mom wrote. "Those people are scary but he stood strong, was respectful and stood by his convictions. He will be a good man, I have no doubt. I got my Mothers Day present early."

I'm not LDS but I so relate to growing up in a faith that's both wonderful and confusing; especially when it comes to dating rules and singleness. Much more than a memoir of her dating misadventures (which are hilarious), Elna's story is about making peace with her grown-up faith, her appearance, her career pursuits, her love life. Her writing is hilarious (delightfully witty), charming, and lovely. Especially recommended to 20 and 30 something women.

Once I started this series, I finished it in two weeks. Would recommend it especially for Downton Abbey fans. Clear, lovely writing. Spiteful, spirited, elegant characters. Henry and Diana, in particular, made my heart spin.

Hannah Stewart Jones I wondered about this series, so it's really good?
Natalie Lloyd It was a fun read! Definitely give it a try! I'll bring you the first one if you want, and you can see what you think. It's very different than other YA I've read. I'm actually not sure what makes it YA (other than the fact that the characters are 18ish). The writing seems more adult (not sure why even, it just does). It's like Downton Abbey Teen (ha). Maybe just a teaspoon of Gossip Girl. It was a fun series! She has another series set in the 20's - I've only read the first book but it was fun too. I think I like Luxe better though.
Sharp, gorgeous prose. Zippy pacing. A lead girl who knows how to be vulnerable and tough. A lead boy who knows how to be funny and fun and protective (without being a creeper). Lots of twisty-turny moments that kept me guessing. And a scene in the laundry room that's ... whew. Once you read the laundry room scene, you'll have a new bookcrush in Ben Michaels. Such a fun, fast-paced read. I wish it was a TV show!

Finished it at 3AM this morning. Heartbreaking, beautiful love story set during World War II. The town of Tyneford was so gorgeously described that I feel like I've been to the ocean. The love story was the best part though. (Stick with it to the end!) I love the prose, the characters, the setting. Such a wonderful book.

Leigh Kramer I love the way you describe books, Natalie. I invariably want to read them after reading your review.
Natalie Lloyd Thank you! I need to do this more often on my blog, too. I sometimes worry that I can't do a good review unless I write a ton about it - but shorter actually seems to work even better.
