In 1907 Buffalo Bill Cody rode the Arabian stallion *Muson in his Wild West Show at Madison Square Garden. *Muson was desert bred in 1899.

Polish-bred, Arabian stallion, *Witez II was bred and foaled at Poland's Janow Podlawki Stud in 1938, *Witez II was born in troubled times and endured being hidden in the countryside, shipped to Hostau for breeding and eventually was shipped to the Army's Remount Depot at the former Kellogg Ranch in California. *Witez II was eventually bought by the first President of the International Arabian Horse Association, Earl Hurlbutt, and went on to sire 223 registered get.

One of George Washington's primary mounts was a gray Half-Arabian named "Blueskin," sired by the stallion "Ranger," also known as "Lindsay's Arabian," said to have been obtained by the Sultan of Morocco. Other presidents are said to have owned Arabians. Ulysses S. Grant received two Arabian stallions named "Leopard and "Linden Tree as gifts from the Sultan of Turkey.

The popularization of Arabians in the U.S. began with 45 Arabian horses that came from the Arabian desert to the Chicago World's Fair in 1893. Included in that group was the mare *Nejdme (left) that became the first Arabian horse registered in the United States in 1908.

Like many girls my love of black Arabian horses stems from reading the Black Stallion series as a child.
