I first discovered Mark Ryden's art around 2004 and fell in love. Since then, I've noticed many other artists who work in a similar style. I've seen it called "Lowbrow art" or contemporary fantasy. Not sure what the correct term is, but here's a collection of art that looks like Mark Ryden's (whether or not he was the first, I don't know).
