We saw these copper wind spinners on our trip to Sedona in April and I fell in LOVE with them. They had no way to help us get them home on the plane, but trusty Amazon to the rescue!! I am soooo hoping I Get one for Mother's Day. They are so elegant and soothing.

home made grout cleaner. I don't know what got into me to actually try this today on my BLACK (used to be offwhite) grout in my kitchen and HOLY MOLY GUACAMOLE. This is utterly amazing. Baking Soda and Bleach paste, used a toothbrush and a few drops of water to make it more scrubby. The grime literally runs off.

Pretty much the best website ever: knockoff DIYs of retail decor. (anthropologie, ballard design, crate & barrel, land of nod, pier 1, pottery barn, restoration hardware, urban outfitters, west elm, williams-sonoma and others). Truly some of the neatest ideas ever!!

Clothes keep slipping off plastic hangers? Use a hot glue gun to apply a zig zag pattern on the arms of your plastic hangers to prevent all your wide-necked shirts from falling off. Works like a charm!

this is such a great, inexpensive idea to spruce up builder-grade cabinetry. finials instead of expensive "cabinet feet." and the beadboard along the toe kick looks really custom as well. definitely doing this in the kitchen and the bathrooms.

Tiffany Dahle I LOVE this idea, Carey!! How awesome looking.

Carey Pace No kidding!!! I mean, there is NO reason we can't do this for practically nothing!

cover box spring with fitted sheet instead of a bed skirt. The ONLY issue is I would not change it every time I changed the sheets... so you'd have to go with a very neutral fitted.

Carey Pace true! Our bed frame goes all the way to the floor, so we can't store things under there anyway. So this is a perfect solution for us.

Use baking soda and vinegar to fix funky towels. Over time, and with many washes, your bath towels will build up detergent and fabric softener residue, leaving them both unable to absorb as much water and smelling kinda funky when they do. Rather than give Target another lump sum, run them through the wash once with hot water and a cup of vinegar, then again with hot water and a half-cup of baking soda, as wikiHow suggests. That strips the residue from them, leaves them smelling fairly fresh again, and makes your post-shower experience a dryer one,

When I saw this lovely set up from The Nester the single word "dwell" stuck in my mind. Earlier this week this post caught my attention: http://www.peanutblossom.com/develop/2012/01/i-am-a-photographer.html We talked about what word we'd use to describe ourselves here on The Parent Watercooler. It was challenging to define “I am [blank].” and be forced to pick one word. I love this display and the idea of playing with a similar one-word-concept. I love that chalkboard and the idea of being able to update the word. FUN.

Shannon Arthur We did this in a small guest room, and are so happy we did. The bottom half on ours are mini-closets. It's currently our daughter's nursery.

Take popsicle sticks and paint them the color of every wall in your house. Carry with you on the go to match furniture, curtains, decorations, etc. I've seen the full paint stirrer version of this but love this portable-sized idea!!
