Is this why you hide from your camera?!? {Me too.} Seriously though, how do you ensure that you get included in a couple of family photos? I have so many pics of the kids and/with my husband, but hardly any with me included.

Great round up of photo apps, many were new to me. Nice to see apps that go beyond editing the photo--most of these add text or frames to the image. Very fun!

Are you cheating when you edit your photos? Great discussion topic inspired by MCP Actions. My answer is, "No" but I'd love to hear your thoughts! Click through for more examples of before/after edits and see what you think! Cheating or not?

Beth Seeber I say, who cares. If you're using them for personal use - edit all you like - they're YOURS. If for professional, same thing applies, unless you are selling them as "unedited", straight from the camera. No sense in lying to anybody.
Angelica Yim I don't think it's cheating at all so long as as what you claim is true. When i edit my photos whether just a simple curve or color boost...I state it as exactly that. And when I must post shots straight out of camera...I do that too.
Tracy DeAtley I don't think it's cheating .....UNLESS, you are using actions because you don't know how to use your camera properly to get correct exposures, or that cool "bokeh" though your camera setting and not actions. The most pro photographers do edites. But when you rely on actions and claim professional photographer, that's when I have a issue.

{Becky Earl Photography} This is a beautiful post on why it is ok to share your photography even if you're not an in-business professional. It's your art, it's meant to be shared.

Angelica Yim @Tiffany Dahle Thanks for sharing! I love Becky Earl and just found her not too long ago. And I totally agree...photos are NOT meant to be kept on the hard drive or somewhere hidden but shared and that doesn't mean it has to be public with the whole world but even shared with family or with whomever you took the picture of. I know for me I want to work on even hanging up more of our family pictures up around the house. I get so busy with life and other people's pictures...sometimes my own are neglected.
Tiffany Dahle That's an excellent point, Angelica! I have a rotating wall gallery above our fireplace where I swap prints periodically so it has made me much better about sharing family photos in our home. I'm working on doing a second display in our bedroom I've enjoyed it so much. It's nice to see your own work printed large and in a frame!
{Webinar} Absolutely free and airing right now at CreativeLive: Bellies and Babies webinar by Sandy Puc. I highly recommend CL's workshops if you have time to tune in.

Child's art shrunk and framed. Photos don't have to be just of your KIDS, they can be of your kids' art. Love the idea of mixing this into a wall gallery.

Tiffany Dahle LOL! Love the stick figure guide. But yes, this is a great tip. I love open shade! Just be sure to avoid the dappled shade that a tree provides or you'll get awful light spots speckled here and there. Her brick wall example above is perfect.
Blurring the backgrounds in a photo using Av (canon)/ A (nikon) mode on your camera. Nice example of difference between f/1.8 and f/5 but be careful when using this tip to shoot more than one person! Just ask @Jenny Sanderson

Photo pendants: Is this jewelry you would wear? Could make a sweet gift but I'm not sure my mom would wear it. . .

Angelica Yim Some people would and some people wouldn't! I think it all depends on someone's personal style. Personally, I might like it more as a key chain.
Tiffany Dahle Oh, a keychain is an excellent idea! That I would definitely enjoy.
Tracy Beasley I would probably make magnets with them. I think the grandparents would like something like this.
instagram into magnets: I want a fridge covered in these!

Tiffany Dahle How odd, Jennifer. Thanks for the warning but the link worked just fine (and safe) for me. Hmmm.
brenda I was concerned too after seeing Jennifer's comment but the link also worked fine for me--Jennifer I hope it didn't happen anymore to you.
How cute would something like this be for a family letter if you're not into the traditional Christmas cards, send this in the spring!

"When you photograph a person in color, you photograph their clothes. When you photograph them in black and white, you photograph their souls." My favorite photography quote, I think. Have you tried B&W photography lately?

Polly Neill I agree - Particularly photos for "posterity." The special pictures of my sons were all done in black and white and I am so, so glad.
Tiffany Dahle Awesome, Polly! Thanks for chiming in. Would you mind if I added you as a contributor to this board? I'd love to have more discussion going over here. :)
Deb Saine who are you quoting?
Tiffany Dahle Excellent question, Deb! I've heard that quote without source from so many places! I don't know who coined it!
