The eagle Hunter: the SAPDIAK: In every hunter’s kitchen is this almond-shaped wooden bowl used specifically for hand-feeding an eagle. During the hunting season, an eagle is fed less, to encourage voracity and keep it in shape. Preparing a meal is a laborious process: The hunter must cut the meat into strips and soak them in the sapdiak to wash out the blood. Bloody meat allegedly makes an eagle lethargic, intractable and harder to lure off a fresh kill.
