You can probably get the coins on Ebay and Etsy has many artisans who make discs with sayings on them. I just had one made for my best friend with the word "fearless" on it.

There are too many pennies in circulation. It is not illegal to alter, cut, or deface them for this reason. That's why pennies are used in those machines at tourist attractions. This is definitely not illegal.

I just went to a coin dealer in my area and he helped me pick out coins for the year of birth for me, my husband and my two boys. I also added a coin for the year I got married. I used coins in various sizes (half dollars, quarters dimes etc.) so that made a nice stack. For the cost of the coins, to drill each coin and connect them with a sterling silver ring (to then put on a silver necklace) cost $37.00. The key is to go to a coin dealer...they have books with coins for every year.

You could try somewhere like Michael's, Hobby Lobby, etc or you could stamp a piece of metal yourself. That would require a metal stamping kit. Google search and see if you might could find them too...hope you find one and if you make this...please post so we can see it!
