I'm unsure about my faith so Olga's comment applies to me if you change the beginning.^^^^
Amanda Cangialosi
What it really means to be a Christian:) Its nice to see not all Christians are judgmental and snobby, sometimes I feel ashamed to associate myself with the "Christian" group in general, because they've turned it into something it's not!
Elisa Nuckle
If only all Christians actually thought this way. Most times I'm embarrassed to even say I'm a Christian because of the automatic negative association with the word many seem to have.
Kneesee
This is the real heart of a Christian. I was lost, but now I am found and how humbled I am to receive His unconditional grace. I can't imagine life in this harsh world without His strength to hold us up.

Mary Chinchilla
Love this! Jesus is humble, Christians need to be more like that- quiet, humble, actions not words! Heaven is anonymous! Look how the angels work! Anonymous good deeds! He was not born in a palace, but in a manger!
Caroline Bigelow Sbarra
Amen!! Thank you for sharing this. It's hard to communicate those things to people without sounding pretentious or judgmental, even though it's thoroughly true. Love it! @Linda Larsen Schaab
Kelsey Kellas
Why should you have to say your a Christian? Why not let your actions show? Let people ask what's the change in you? When you say your a Christian, people should see a difference in you and everyone else. If they don't, are you really a Christian? You actions should say you're a Christian, not you.
Tammy Kelly
I AM A CHRISTIAN! this means I am a sinner, that I am lost, but am forgiven and found! Thank you, Lord!
Kathy Hurley
Beautifully said! I am forgiven and by the grace of God I am loved and able to love others.
Heather Carey
It's funny how Christians always talk about how messed up they are, but I haven't been to church in 4 years and my life has never been better.
Angela Jaramillo
Elisa don't ever be ashamed to say your a Christian! Don't stereotype all Christians based on the group you surround yourself with :/
Chandra Bean
I read this poem and felt compelled to re-post it. The thing is...we as as Christians should be proud to proclaim that we serve a mighty God. Unfortunately the term is perceived by many as a proclamation that we are better than. In fact it is quite the contrary. The only difference between me and someone who is not a Christian is salvation. I have flaws and shortcomings, far too many to name. Going to church doesn't make you a Christian. going to church in and of itself wont make your life better. And if you are not attending a Bible based "church" you can surely be lead down the wrong path. I am pleased that so many were as blessed and encouraged as I was when I read this poem.
Michelle Humphrey
So glad you put this on here, I was going to but never got around to it! This poem changed a lot for me, and all for the good!
Amanda Burau
@Olga! Thank you for being so accepting. I have seen a lot of anger from atheist in PIN lately. Most true Christians live a life of quiet peace and are not running around yelling and passing judgement. It is through their actions and sense of peace that you know and understand that they have a relationship with God.
Ann Moore
It's always best to let your "actions" speak louder than words...one never knows who may be watching and the one who observes you the most is for sure wondering what and where your "Peace" comes from and God will provide you with the opportunity to let your light shine! :)
Paula Jolly
I would urge all Christians to complain to Pinerest if you see pictures and other things that are offensive to Christians. It wouldn't happen if it were any other faith. It will continue to happen if we stay silent.
Michelle Humphrey
@Paula Jolly what are you talking about? Your comment to me is saying the total OPPOSITE of what this whole poem is about and all the comments that have been posted...complain about what? Of course there is going to be stuff on here that we might not agree with but we are not to Judge and instead of condemn or complain, how about just PRAYING???? I saw some Atheist postings which I found really offensive and sad, but instead of me commenting on it and passing judgement on them, I just prayed for them, that they will know the TRUTH and come to know God as plenty of other atheists have in the past. We all have our beliefs and ideas, and I truly believe as Christians, we should not JUDGE but just PRAY. as it says in Philippians 4:6 " Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God." Also I really recommend you reading "Chandra Bean's" post a few people up...
Michelle Humphrey
Oh yeah I forgot to mention that this poem was in the book "Chicken Soup for the Christian Family Soul" or one of the CSFTS Christian ones and it was indeed by Carol Wimmer. I read this poem as my testimony before I got baptized!
Chandra Bean
@ Michelle Humphrey-thank you. I am blessed beyond measure. May God continue to bless you too.
Alison Bernard
Hey Michelle - just the fact that you take it upon yourself to pray for people who don't share your beliefs and would not want you praying for them is very arrogant. It is not your place.
andhearts
Don't like it. "and need god to clean my mess." Act like an adult and clean your own mess.
Jenna Dybul
Gotta love when Christians feel they are being oppressed! (Regarding the comments.) Get a clue Paula! And if you report something that is offensive to Christians Pinterest will say TOO BAD because people have the right to express their feelings without worrying if a Christian is offended.
Shawn Banker-Thronson
“When I say, ‘I am a Christian’” (the correct full title) was penned in 1988 by Carol Wimmer.
Angela Wiedman
Why are some of you so upset by this post?? If you don't like it, then move on. Why do you feel the need to make rude and nasty comments? I really don't see how this post can possibly offend anyone, but if it does. make your point productively and respectively...
Jessica Padilla
Funny how some non believers like to take a possitive message and turn it into a negative, sad. Thank you Lord for my faith and may it continue to grow.
Chandra Bean
Neither this post not this thread was intended to attack or condem anyone with differing beliefs. The poem is beautiful! The mere posting of the poem honors God! If one person read the poem and had their heart lifted, their spirit renewed or was in anyway drawn closer to God then it served its purpose. There are many people who don't believe in God but that doesn't make him any less real. Continue to pray, continue to worship Him, continue to spread His word. If you touch ONE you have succeeded. To God be the Glory.
Samantha Jennifer
Everyone needs to relax. If it strikes a chord with you, enjoy it. if it makes you defensive or angry, it struck a chord with you and you don't want to admit it. Those who are angry with a Pinterest posting like this are fighting a spiritual battle.
Angel Cotton
Heather Carey, Christians may talk about their flaws as testament to how amazing God's grace and forgiveness is. Also, once Christ comes into your life and begins to change you, it's easier to see how "messed up" you are. I remember before I rededicated my life and was living in sin, I was blind to how miserable and messed up my life really was. I cannot describe how truly better life is with God. He is amazing!
Jaime Jordan
This is a beautiful poem. I am a Christian. I do not judge those different from myself and I don't shove my religion down others' throats, but I can't understand why it is ok to bash Christians because it's free speech but no ok to bash an other religion like Muslims or atheist. It's ludicrous and I pray that someday people would see this double standard.
Sherri Breaton
Sorry I got an email from pinterest saying they pulled this post because the original owner of property is complaining about copyright etc...not very Christian lol
Hannah Becton
@Morgan Grubb While I have no Muslim friends to compare to, I can actually recall several similar Atheistic postings, maybe not on Pinterest but several places elsewhere. I consider myself a Progressive Christian, and I absolutely reject dogma and embrace open-mindedness. I, however, get tired of some hard atheists pushing THEIR beliefs on others, when any belief about the nature of God is intellectually viable as it is a belief regarding the metaphysical which cannot be proven or disproven. We won't know 100% until after death, really.
Jordan Saffron
AMEN! I love this! I hate when people fit ALL Christians into a stereotype....we aren't all the same /:
Felicia Cooper
An adult can't even wake up without god so how can someone clean their own mess up without god?
Fran Houston
@andhearts we can't clean up our own mess with out God. Maybe you should grow up and accept God as your Lord and Savior. You will be a much happier person.
Andrea Lytle
My heart hurts for those who choose not to believe in God for they will not have eternity in heaven! May God bless you and may God find a way into your life!
Christy Smith-Hallahan
Not everyone in the world is a Christian. Follow the message of spirituality instead of the propaganda of religion.
Fran Houston
Being a Christian has nothing to do with religion. It is about accepting Jesus Christ as my Lord a Savior and knowing that it is by God's grace that I am going to Heaven. Not because I deserve to go but because God loves me that much. He love EVERYONE that much.
Adam Moore
I am an Atheist, I am happy and I have the life that I want. I do not spend my life working towards an "end goal." My goal is in the here and now. I do not need to preach, if you agree with me great, if you do not, that is your propagative. I do not need for someones "heart to hurt for me"- Andrea Lytle. My life is complete and I made it that way. If you are a Christian, great. I will treat you the same as I would my Atheist friends, but in a world where there are ruffly 7 billion people and the possibility for there to be 7 billion different beliefs we should focus more on what makes a person individual.
Kelsey Kellas
I love the way Christian focus so much on God's grace & mercy. Maybe if they didn't act the way they do, that's not all they would need from him!!
Laura Krippendorf
I don't understand why so many non-Christians are reading this poem and feel compelled to write their negative comments. If this poem brings us , "Christians" ,comfort and joy, why are you so bothered by that? Why the need to be do spiteful? It's disheartening.
Amanda Burau
@ Brett and @ Adam, Ruffly, all I can picture is 7 billion people running around in puffy shirts singing "Amazing Grace"!
Jane Dye
pin interest! to each his own. that some of us really like this is our choice, our business. focus on what u like!
Summer Schallenberger
Pinterest is not a place to talk about your personal religious thoughts. It's personal and so you should keep it to yourself.
andhearts
"@andhearts we can't clean up our own mess with out God. Maybe you should grow up and accept God as your Lord and Savior. You will be a much happier person." I'd be a much more ignorant person as well. You need to grow up considering you're the one with the imaginary friend.
Adam Moore
To @andhearts: I am grown up and as a grown up have decided what is best for me, to not be a christian, to not believe in god, and to respect people of all religions. You obviously need to GROW UP and accept that people are different in so many ways. I am a very happy person and you know what, your still ignorant.
andhearts
@Adam Moore "I am a very happy person and you know what, your still ignorant." It is spelled Y O U ' R E
andhearts
"So this is the way you respect people of other religions." I don't respect your religion. It teaches intolerance and spews BS. "Be a grown up and think of the life you will have after this life. Where will you spend ETERNITY???" There is no such thing as life after death. Stop being so afraid of that fact and accept it. Heaven and hell are as real as Narnia.
tim spring
@andhearts why would you make such a negative comment. Now every one that has made a comment will have to see your nasty remark. I hope if you have brothers or sisters or children or a wife that nobone ever makes comments as ugly as that to them. still I do pray that you have a blessed day.
Jamie Hudson
Andhearts, you have said some beautiful things and perhaps planted a seed. But remember, the Bible tells us to not cast our pearls before swine :)
Jordan Saffron
Wow...and people wonder why there's never gonna be world peace...I love Jesus. End of story. I won't sit and waste my time arguing.
April Buffington
Perhaps something didn't print correctly. My intentions were to say I liked that message.
Jamie Hudson
That was my point Jordan. Arguing gets us nowhere. I wasn't calling anyone a pig. The Bible is clear on planting a seed and then moving on if it doesn't take root. That's all I meant
Jamie Hudson
And looking back, my response was for Memom Peggy. I misread the names and attributed what she said to AndHearts
andhearts
@tim spring "I hope if you have brothers or sisters or children or a wife that nobone ever makes comments as ugly as that to them." I don't think rejecting god is ugly. It is logical. "Andhearts, you have said some beautiful things and perhaps planted a seed. But remember, the Bible tells us to not cast our pearls before swine :)" Ahhh yes, but I don't really listen much to the bible. It also tells us that women but be submissive to men (1 Timothy 2:12) but I bet you don't listen to that ;)
Jordan Saffron
Andhearts ACTUALLY the word that is often mistranslated in that verse is "Silence" or "Quiet" or any other forms of that word. The word "Hesuchios/Hesuchia" actually translates to be "Peacefullness." the word does not carry the meaning of literal silence or absence of speech, but of an atmosphere or presence in which learning should take place. Now, when you're married, you both VOW to become ONE...so, if I were married, and a decision that affected my husband and I came up, would I ask him before I made the decision? YOU BET. It's a respect for him. The Bible also talks about how a man should treat his wife...it tells both Wife AND husband to learn full submission to each other so they can be equal.
Jordan Saffron
And just a side note, any decision you make when you're married affects both you and your husband. So yes, I would go to him about everything...like a best friend...because that's what he's supposed to be, your best friend. People often don't realize that they're "submitting" when they simply do things for their spouse or when the other decides something isn't a good idea or vice versa. It's not all bad. I witness one of the best marriages ever, everyday. My parents have been married for almost 23 years. Other than the fact that my dad physically can't do much because of injuries from the war, they both "submit" to each other. We live in an imperfect world, there will always be a time when one spouse seems to be doing more than the other.
tim spring
@ Jordan Saffron
Well said, and if a man loves his wife like Christ loves the church (which is us all, he laid down his life. What greater love than giving your life for someone) how can she not live out Christ's word as he is? As for me and my house, we shall follow The Lord... (paraphrasing)
Jordan Saffron
Precisely(: Heck, I don't even have a boyfriend yet and I know how a marriage should be(: It's all about dissecting the word and finding the true meaning, listening to it, and following it.
andhearts
"I do not permit a woman to teach or to assume authority over a man;[a] she must be quiet." That's what it says, but I'll take your translation: ""I do not permit a woman to teach or to assume authority over a man;[a] she must be PEACEFUL." How is that any less sexist? Why does the woman have to be peaceful? Why can she not exert authority over a man, but it says nothing prohibiting a man from exerting authority over her? This still seems absurdly anti-woman.
Jordan Saffron
@andhearts 21 Submit to one another out of reverence for Christ.
22 Wives, submit yourselves to your own husbands as you do to the Lord. 23 For the husband is the head of the wife as Christ is the head of the church, his body, of which he is the Savior. 24 Now as the church submits to Christ, so also wives should submit to their husbands in everything.
25 Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her 26 to make her holy, cleansing[a] her by the washing with water through the word, 27 and to present her to himself as a radiant church, without stain or wrinkle or any other blemish, but holy and blameless. 28 In this same way, husbands ought to love their wives as their own bodies. He who loves his wife loves himself. 29 After all, no one ever hated their own body, but they feed and care for their body, just as Christ does the church— 30 for we are members of his body.
Jordan Saffron
31 “For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife, and the two will become one flesh.”[b] 32 This is a profound mystery—but I am talking about Christ and the church. 33 However, each one of you also must love his wife as he loves himself, and the wife must respect her husband. -Ephesians 5:21-33 It tell both men and women to respect each other
andhearts
Right, but it repeatedly makes the point of saying that women submit to their husbands and all submit to god. It says that men must treat their wives well, but it does not say they have to submit to them. So women are still getting the shit end of the stick and I'm not ok with that. Your god is sexist. And a homophobe if you include the old testament.
Brett Olson
Well I'm never posting a comment on a pin ever again - Dear Pinterest - Get me out of here!
Jordan Saffron
I find it interesting that you're so against the Bible, yet you know it so well. My God speaks TRUTH. There is no point in continuing to argue because you'll never see it the way I do. You'll probably see this as me stepping down because you think you're right. But I'm stepping down because you don't get it. Have a nice day.
tim spring
@ Brett Olson, I think you go to this post and go through it and delete any comment you have made. I think you can click on the comment and I should have a little x on the right which you can delete your comment and you will stop receiving posts I believe.

@Jordan Saffron "I find it interesting that you're so against the Bible, yet you know it so well." Yes, reading the bible and actually seeing what nonsense lies within it is part of what made me realize how much I disagree with it.
Michelle Humphrey
ENOUGH ALREADY!!!! This is a public site where people choose to PIN their FAVORITE things, beliefs whatever! This is a very positive poem and if people don't believe in it or believe in Jesus, or WHATEVER, move on, you don't have to post your hateful, judging words, if you don't agree with it, don't look at it, don't post it, move on! This poem was to encourage and lots of people liked the poem, and that is their right! It is called FREEDOM OF SPEECH. When people are posting things though, they are not asking about your opinion, they are doing it for their own pleasure!!! I am a Christian but PINTEREST is not the place to try and reach the unbelievers especially when they make RUDE and ARROGANT comments on our faith, they have closed ears, eyes and harden hearts. To keep arguing back and forth is not getting anyone anywhere and the people who commented their "Like" of this poem is getting sick of all the bickering and arguing, and bantering back and forth.
Michelle Humphrey
Everyone has the right to their own beliefs, but if they don't respect others, than how do you think you can reach people? I don't agree with Atheists but I don't go posting "bashing and arguemental" stuff on their PINS, I read it, don't like it and move on, there is not point to comment on their stuff and as for them, they should do the same to ours! BUT it is sad, there are people out there who ENJOY arguing, who want to prove a point, who want to be rude, and again it is their right, but we don't have to respond, we can just let it roll of our backs and move on!!! MOVE ON are the key words!
Michelle Humphrey
PS I am not saying all atheists are rude and arrogant, there were a few who commented before that were very respectful and I just want to say, THANK YOU for that, this world would be a great place, regardless of religions or beliefs as long as we all respected one another and tried to be kind.
