science experiment with magnets: put iron-fortified cereal (like Total) in a bag with water. let it sit for 20 min, then rub a strong magnet all around. pull it up to the top and you'll see you've collected the actual iron from your cereal!!

Mary Povak I just did this with my students. Make sure you use a neodymium magnet it works much better then ceramic magnets. The longer you let it sit the more iron you will get as well. A good pre-activity is to have them play with iron filings with a magnet to see those up close first. If you want I can lend you some cases that hold iron filings so they don't make a mess but you can still see the magnetic fields.
Lisa Y Awesome! I'm so glad it worked well :) I can't wait to try it.

A volcano in a mug. Neat idea to show kids how they work. Much more accurate than the old baking soda/vinegar idea.

constellations --- would go great with a constellation viewer made with a paper towel tube, black construction paper and toothpicks to poke the stars.

It's alive! One of the coolest science experiments ever!- cornstarch and water mixture moves to sound so kids -can visually experience sound waves. Going to have to try this - sound weirdly cool.
