amie of Prudent Baby takes the mystery and stress out of sewing with knits—even if you don't have a serger! In her Sewing with Jersey 101 post, she shows you how to get great sewing results with stretchy fabrics by using common sewing machine accessories like a double needle and a walking foot. The post takes you through all of the steps, from the tools you'll need to settings and stitches, and makes sewing with knits seem perfectly simple!

Michelle Worthington Try searching "knit" in the search bar on PrudentBaby. I think it's like the second one that comes up, from Sept 19, 2011.

Katy Afruma Works great for hems of skirts and shirt collars too. I'm too lazy to use my iron for anything but sewing/fabric.

Profile picture of Allison Grucza Oknefski

Allison Grucza Oknefski ive been doing this for years. it also works great on wrinkly hems or collars.

Judy David I've done this a lot & I used my curling iron for some wired ribbon this year at Christmas on my garland, made it look like new;)
