“Floor,” by Korean sculptor and installation artist Do Ho Suh. Get a little closer: glass plates rest on thousands of multicolored miniature plastic figures who are crowded together with their heads and arms turned skyward. Working together, they support the weight of the individual visitor who steps onto the floor.

Los Gatos, CA artist John Pugh: I am a trompe l’oeil artist focusing primarily on mural painting. I have found that the “language” of life-size illusions allow me to communicate with a very large audience. It seems almost universal that people take delight in being visually tricked.

Sao Paulo, Brazil artist Henrique Oliveira Henrique Oliveira was born in Ourinhos, Brazil in 1973 and hails from the university of São Paulo, Brazil. Oliveira uses wood collected from the streets of São Paulo where he lives, to create huge installations which he refers to as “tridimensionals”. The thin sections of wood are obtained from old fencing and boarding known as ‘tapumes”, are bent and curved into these enormous structures that seem to spill off the gallery walls.

Water filled brick sidewalk in France. This urban art installation was created by the Raum in the Box residence at the National Superior School of Art in Bourges. From a distance (and ignoring the small spigot at the top) this bump in the bricks looks almost like a speed bump. But when pedestrians stepped on it, it gave way and began to ripple and sway. The “bricks” hid a soft water-filled cushion that provided an unusual way to interact with the city landscape. Children, adults and even pets were enchanted by the feeling of a fluid surface beneath their feet.

So is this really great graffiti - or really fun art?

Liza Lou Artist: A 168 square feet kitchen (almost 16m2) with every pie, every muffin, every bit of cereal covered with beads. She bought household appliances and put beads directly onto their surfaces. For the cereal boxes and cherry pie, Lou first built the form out of papier-mâché. It took an estimated 30 million beads to complete her work and 5 years of intense work. From the turquoise sink to the cherry pie, Liza Lou beaded every detail by hand. It was completed in 1995 and brought her fame immediately. She was 26 at the time.

www.numen.eu/... Some of their work reminds me of a sticky spider web - but it's still awesome and the people who get to crawl in them are so lucky!
