So even though he researched as much as he possibly could, there were some aspects he couldn’t possibly know. He didn’t live it, and it wasn’t a time when blacks and whites could commingle. But as African-Americans, we can bring something to it that is our own

Julie Vanburen Why is it so surprising that cultures still chase the idea that European is better. Whites wanting toTAN and Browns wanting to BLEACH. Such a crazy world.

'Viola Davis stepped out yesterday with her hair au natural, thanks to a little encouragement from her husband, Julius Tennon. “My husband wanted me to take the wig off,” the Best Actress Oscar nominee told us at the private Alfre Woodard dinner hosted by Grey Goose in Los Angeles. “He said, ‘If you want to wear it for your career, that’s fine, but in your life wear your hair. Step into who you are!’ It’s a powerful statement.' < more of this please!

asking to touch someones hair is another form of body policing as well as racial policing, just think how uncomfortable you would be if some one asked you if they could touch your hair? so unless you are invited to , don't touch and don't ask.
