Keria Schmeida Learned how to do this in the military. Sometimes the simplest solutions are the best!
Susanna King And if you have layered hair, like me, instead of step 3, pull the sock all the way down to your head, then wind the hair around. It's nigh impossible to roll up thick, layered hair from the end up like in the photo!
Kimberly Collins This is great. Love it. But a warning. A sock bun is not a ballet bun. For ballet, a hair net is the best tool. Just whirl the hair around the paony tail, wrap the net around the bun till the net is tight, then pin. You will have the perfect ballet bun. Sock buns are not real ballet buns. I know where we go, if someone wore a sock bun to recital, they would be made to take it down to redon.
Kimberly Collins Argh! Spelling!
Marilyn Frapwell This has got to be the easiest way to make a really fun bun. Takes just a minute and looks great! No pins!!!
Once your hair is dry, all this style requires is a little tousling to get it into shape.

Jane Kelly love this hairstyle, but hair is too wavy...don't want to spend time with a flat iron
April Horne I have this haircut... I love it but it's anything but easy! Maybe because my hair is thin I have to work to get body then do lots of smoothing.
Shannon Thompson Ewwww
Lighten heavy locks by adding layers (and a few curls, too!)

This bouncy auburn cut gives volume without a lot of work, and the color enhances natural highlights and is easy to keep up.

A long shag with tousled layers (and a bit of spray wax) can help you fake full hair.

An ornamental elastic provides control for thick, unruly hair. To minimize hair snags, choose a wide one that's metal-free.

Give a bun an upgrade: Gather long hair into a low ponytail secured behind one ear, then twist it until it coils around itself. Fasten with hairpins.

To blow-out for volume, body, and smoothness, use a large, round brush, moving the brush and the dryer together down the hair shafts from roots to ends. Keep the airflow angled toward the ends.

Nichole Mancone Love the look, are there instructions?
Create this festive look by gathering hair loosely in a ponytail. Loop up 1-inch sections and bobby-pin to the scalp. Frame your face with a few tendrils.

To trim bangs, comb dry hair smooth, then hold scissors so that the tips point up at a slight angle and trim a bit at a time. Don't snip horizontally, which can lead to overcutting.

Wire combs―made of lightweight metal―hold fine hair securely and, unlike tortoiseshell clips, won't slip out easily.

Give a classic up-do a super-sleek finish: Apply a smoothing serum to damp hair before blowing dry.

A long ponytail with side-swept bangs is romantic and playful. For extra polish, wrap a strand of hair around the elastic and pin securely.

Stacking complementary hairbands may not provide twice as much control for unruly hair, but the look is stylish.

The classic twist works best with unlayered hair that is chin length or longer. Sweep bangs to the side, blending them in to the updo.

A hair stick (or two) is a pretty―and effective―way to secure a bun. Opt for sticks made of strong wood or resin for extra staying power.
