Joan Clanton amy, you can let the hem out all the way then sew on a piece of fabrc the width of the old hem, then stitch the new "hem". i had a tailor do this on a pendleton coat. it looked great. hope this helps.

Eileen Christofferson Do you think it might help if I had them put bits of blue tape on their machines and drew arrows in the direction of the thread. I used a sharpie on my machine to help me remember which way the bobbin winds.
