Michelle Coon reading this now... so far so good
Erika Easley love it
Rowena Murillo UPDATE: Just read it in 5 hours. So good.
Christina Cancel I finished as well and loved it - but I will not be recommending to my 5th graders.
Rowena Murillo No, it's a HS book, I'd say, maybe some JHS students. Very dark. I loved it as an adult. But then, I don't always agree with the separation of adutl and YA reading material.
Geekdad's Stories about girls, part 1. I just put a hold on one of these at my library. For myself. Yay, YA lit!

Rachel Zhao LOL
Zuzia Kucharczyk @Erica DeMasi This "t" screams Thea and Myla
i've read a few of these... but I'd like to see a list of adult books that share similarities with Hunger Games
133 likes 18 comments 738 repins
Criss Forshay Is there adult dystopia? I've only seen those themes in YA titles.
Rowena Murillo I read The Night Circus and really enjoyed it. Yes, there are adult dystopic novels, it' s a common science fiction theme. Books like The Handmaid's Tale by Margaret Atwood, or Cormac McCarthy's The Road.
Erin Hensel @Criss Forshay - There are many dystopian novels written (at least originally, in some cases) for a more adult audience - 1984, Fahrenheit 451, A Clockwork Orange, Brave New World, Children of Men, Lord of the Flies, The Handmaid's Tale, Anthem, Atlas Shrugged, dozens of short stories....Half of the movies that come out each summer are dystopias, and most of them are not marketed to teens necessarily - popular ones over the last decade include Minority Report, The Matrix, Surrogates, In Time, The Village, The Island, even Wall-E. There are many different kinds of dystopias - government control, corporate control, post-apocalyptic, philosophical
Criss Forshay @Erin Hensel @Rowena Murillo I was thinking of recent books for adults; seems the only things blowing up the bestseller lists are either YA, or Nicholas Sparks... that may also be because I follow YA circles more than "adult" ones... I guess I need to check out Margaret Atwood's other titles. I guess I also consider Lord of the Flies "YA" because the characters are teens (and I read it in high school), same with Handmaid's Tale (or when I first read it I imagined her as my age at the time; she may have been written older...)
I like big books!

Michael Krenzel I'd rather die.
Beth Benjamin I always like to go through lists such as this, but really I agree with Joel that everyone should have a different list. And I always ask myself, "Who is this person(s) who deems to tell me what I SHOULD read? Credentials? Experiences?
