food and cooking

I like uncomplicated food. Comfort foods of the American, Italian, and Mexican stripe especially. Plus sweets, yum. And some booze. I've got to get cooking.

pinner says... "perfect" technique for baked oven fries. Seriously perfect technique. Some of the best fries I've ever eaten. And they didn't come out of a deep-fryer! They came out of my oven!!

Elizabeth Schildkret I've never thought of making Chicken Kiev with mozzerella before... Sounds a little more healthy than wrapping a stick of butter, but would you still need butter for the recipe to work?

Inspired by a Mexican favorite, grilled fish tacos have a creamy dressing spiked with lime juice, cumin, chili powder, and adobo sauce from zesty chipotle peppers. Garnished with tomatoes, cilantro, shredded cabbage, and lime wedges, these tacos are guaranteed delicious.

It took all summer to grow your tomatoes, now use a slow cooker to make them into a versatile tomato sauce flavored with sauteed onion, garlic and bell pepper, and seasoned with oregano, basil, parsley, sugar and tomato paste.

Shrimp Fritters

23 likes 172 repins

Frito pie, a delicacy of the American Southwest, consists of Frito chips, chili, cheese, beans and onions. Its origins are a mystery, but one legend places its birth at a Woolworth’s lunch counter in Santa Fe, New Mexico. Woolworth’s isn’t around anymore, but a dime store still resides at that location. It serves Frito pie at a snack bar in the back, with the ingredients poured into a slit open Frito bag.

Anna Lockwood In Australia these would be called sweet potatoes.

Profile picture of Melody Mal

Melody Mal yeah but they aren't...as a species of potatoes I mean. Thay are yams. Sweet potatoes are yellowish and gluey and really not all that sweet.

Profile picture of Mary Jackson

Mary Jackson yes, they are....with drizzled honey too and ranch

Profile picture of Catherine Reinhardt

Catherine Reinhardt according to the internet, there are two types of sweet potato a yellower kind and a redder sweeter kind. Yams are in fact different than sweet potatoes but some sweet potatoes are actually sweet.

Prepping Five Meals From Five Chicken Breasts To create five very distinctive meals for my family of five out of five chicken breasts, a little prep work goes a long way. Just a little time spent at the beginning of the week makes the rest of the days come together quickly and easily. To make these five dinners (plus a bonus lunch!), I started with five bone-IN chicken breasts. To really stretch your chicken, I find bone-in breasts to be the way to go.
