Store bought sugar cookie dough, roll out to size, make indents with a toothpick, add almond, cook to directions...but watch out, they get bigger when cooked! Sprinkle with cinnamon! EASY and GROSS!

Chelsea Behle @Valerie Garcia - These are SO COOL!! :)
Mary Carder I don't know about Harry potter but an up themed birthday would have to have these!
Rowena Murillo @ mary carder, that's a good idea. For snitches, I was thinking of donut holes dipped in golden coating and stuck on a skewer. With wings of... fruit roll ups?
Aubrey Sanchez It also makes me think of Toy Story, because it looks just like the wallpaper! Cute!
Rowena Murillo @Ashley DePalma, that's a great idea. I missed your comment. Hide a gold dragee in each jello cup and have the kids go hunting for the snitch in it! Harry Potter even caught his first snitch in his mouth.
magical color changing drinks, thanks Catherine Chin Schwartz!

harry potter party- games Potions (baking soda, vinegar, food coloring and a lot of cut up veggies and spices all mixed together and bottled), Care of Magical Creatures (owl painting), Quidditch (throwing a ball through our homemade Quidditch hoops), Divination (popping balloons that we'd filled with prophecies) and Broom Riding (a relay race where kids had to dress up in wizard robes, scarves, glasses and hats and then race across the yard on a broom) the link is to apartmenttherapy, not spam

Harry Potter Party. This is a good one. Invitation to Hogwarts, book/supplies list, a key to gringotts for money to buy treats and such, and an owl. How ambitious am I? I have until July

Rowena Murillo I was thinking that these owls might be cool made out of socks. Sock Owls. And easier than all that felt stitching. But yes, there are SO many good ideas to take from the books
Diane Cidade I like your thinking. Not sure if you've seen this little guy before? http://pinterest.com/pin/91...
Rowena Murillo Great pin! I repinned him. Much easier than stitching out a billion felt owls. Although I made felt aliens for the last bday party and those went over well. And the kid did ask for more beanbags.
Diane Cidade Good, glad you liked it. The instructions call for glue, but you could get your needle and thread out if you found you had the time. Perhaps instead of giving them out with these (AMAZING) invitations, perhaps the owls could be 'purchased' at your own Diagon Alley - maybe a balloon pop game with numbers inside the balloons corresponding to a different owl? Can you tell that I wish I was planning a Harry Potter party?? I'll try to stop meddling now :)
Rowena Murillo No, that's ok, it's easy to get carried away with a HP party. I was thinking there would be an Owlery where they could get an owl. Balloon pop is a good idea to pass them out.
Harry Potter Party! dessert first ideas. You can make a meal out of chocolate frogs and treacle tart, just like on the Hogwarts Train

Christy Smith Mower The cloud would be cute to fill with candy, paint edges with silver..."you're my cloud with silver lining"
Rowena Murillo I was thinking, for a Harry Potter bday, I could paint silver animals on it (patronus) and then fill it with chocolate kisses. Because chocolate cures the ill feelings of dementors.
This might be fun for a Harry Potter activity or decoration. The Coat of Arms could reflect the kid's interests, talents, and accomplishments. I seem to remember doing this with one of my classes when I taught HS

One of the activities for the first day is Magic Playdoh. Make favorite playdoh recipe. At this point, remove it onto a floured surface and kneed until nice and smooth. separate into sections, roll into balls and make an indentation, add a drop or two of food coloring in the hole then smooth the ball over. For harry potter magic party?

a Princess party or should I say – a pretend-play or drama! Because, part of it was scripted – by my daughter – and part was unstructured play-party. Come on over to see some gorgeous pictures and to know how this drama-party led to hours of playful-learning at www.mommy-labs.com
