water fall -- -- SHIOYASU Tomoko expresses the enormous energy of nature in sprawling and precise handwork by way of cutting paper with a knife, melting layered synthetic paper with soldering iron and drawing on a synthetic paper which repels water. -- -- people wonder how her delicate work can stand the demands of being hung

New project by ART+COM, for the Zurich Airport: "a set of see-through telescopes that overlay context-aware information on top of the live image, offering useful information about airport buildings and any airplanes that appear in view. To detect the exact physical position of the airplanes, specific data has to be gathered from the tower, such as a plane's type, destination or point of origin."

This is what happens when you give thousands of stickers to thousands of kids. Yayoi Kusama constructed a large domestic environment, painting every wall, chair, table, piano, and household decoration a brilliant white, effectively serving as a giant white canvas. Over the course of two weeks, the museum’s smallest visitors were given thousands upon thousands of colored dot stickers and were invited to collaborate in the transformation of the space, turning the house into a vibrantly mottled explosion of color.

The 5,000+ pieces of stainless steel rock fragments that make up the hanging sculpture were arranged based on an actual detonation. Zhan started by recording an exploding boulder using six strategically placed high-definition video cameras, recording at 2,000 frames per second. The recordings, which are projected onto the walls surrounding the sculpture, were meticulously studied, frame-by-frame, to determine the trajectories of the various pieces of shrapnel. With multiple camera angles to work with, Zhan was able to recreate a single moment of the explosion

An incredible, brand new installation made from 1,000 bicycles by dissident Chinese artist Ai Weiwei who emerged four months ago from a prolonged detention by the Chinese government for alleged economic crimes. The installation is one of 21 artworks on display as part of “Ai Weiwei Absent,” that opens tomorrow at the Taipei Fine Arts Museum and runs through January 29th. Weiwei will not be present. Polymorphic is a kinetic installation utilizing an innovative design and engineering solution inspired by the simple kinetic action of a see-saw and the reverberating motion of a Slinky. The design is comprised of a double-sided bench which transforms through a series of 119 unique and interconnected sections into a chaise lounge and finally an interactive balance board. These sections are connected via an inventive pivot and bolt system which allows the vertical movement of one section to be picked up by others down the line. Together, this motion allows the installation to transform from a series of leveled sections into an undulating form activated through interaction with its occupants. / via mary

Located on Jaffe Drive at Lincoln Center in New York, the THINK exhibit combines three unique experiences to engage visitors in a conversation about how we can improve the way we live and work. Data wall Visitors approaching the exhibit are drawn in by striking patterns displayed on a 123-foot digital wall. The wall visualizes, in real time, the live data streaming from the systems surrounding the exhibit, from traffic on Broadway, to solar energy, to air quality. Visitors discover how we can now see change, waste and opportunities in the world’s systems.

A collaboration with choreographer Jonah Bokaer, Why Patterns is a performance in which the visual design emerges from a single ping-pong ball that is introduced into a frame on stage, initiating a series of choreographed games. Unpredictable results trigger events that flood the stage with thousands of balls, which are manipulated by the movements of the dancers as the square frame is collapsed.
