On designing type systems, by Peter Bil'ak: "Univers goes beyond the quest to design individual letters, attempting instead to design space, to create a system of relationships between different sets of shapes which share distinctive parameters. Prior to Univers, type designers concerned themselves with the relationships between letters of the same set, how an a is different from a b."

Lovely, extensive essay on the design of a new signage typeface, Wayfinding Sans. Ralf Herrmann designed an interface for blurring and fading text to test his design throughout the process

Diane Haldane I don't know what QR code is, but I knew right away it was the alphabet. I feel like Penny in the Big Bag Theory ;).
John Alesi Just squint your eyes a little and it becomes fairly clear.

Hungarian designer Martzi Hegedűs has created a single typeface, titled Frustro, on the sole premise of making it impossible. Based on the illusion of the Penrose triangle (which is by definition, an impossible object whose creator deemed it “impossibility in its purest form”) the type appears to be facing two different directions simultaneously.

John Almazan So the fourth dimension does exist!!
Marcia Kadanoff Wow. I don't know if we'd actually use this in a project. But Wow.
David Roote Hey Pamela, John and Marcia, this is quaintly fun, this pinning site. Pamela, I found out about your style, studios, and likes. We have very similar like for Gehry's work to which I added my likes for the organics of Anton and Gaudi. Then Marcia opined with some travel logs, haunts of mine many years ago, and then I spotted a familiar photo, Gaudi's Casa Mila, or at least it's chimneys. Brag Brag I was fortunate to stay in one of the surviving rooms in '68. Or was it '67, because in '68 I drove with the hippie minions to Kathmandu and back to London. I just returned from Liban, so if anyone has photos from that spectacular spot they would be appreciated. They are building as fast as they can make cement and glass.
Trap Sta cool,penrose fonts!

I am not a type designer. This is the story of the creation of a new font, Avería: the average of all the fonts on my computer. The field of typography has long fascinated me, and I love playing with creative programming ideas, so it was perhaps inevitable that the idea came to me one day of “generative typography”.

Jane Cronkhite Interesting, im working on a wayfinding project now so ill have to take a close look at the typeface.
vvr 789 i love earth
Chaz DeSimone Clever idea; I do the same in Photoshop to test readability. BTW upper and lower case is far more legible than all caps which is why it's used on highway signage.
